Patrick Kennedys unexpected decision not to seek reelection to the US House prompted widespread reflection yesterday on how swiftly the political climate had changed, from the adulation for Edward M. Kennedy after his death to the voter fatigue that has helped end the familys decades in power.
With Patrick Kennedy bowing out amid dismal poll numbers, some read the shift as a measure of the declining political cachet of the family name. Others say it goes deeper, reflecting the fading popularity of the activist federal government the Kennedy family has long championed.

Look for Patches to move back to the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport and start running for the ‘Scott Brown Seat’ in 2012.
A Congress without a Kennedy is like a big box of chocolates.
The resignation of Patches Kennedy re-affirms the old adage: Addition by subtraction.
Oh my goodness. They are so upset over the fact that a kennedy won’t be in the Senate...what the heck? Can’t they just go talk one of the 100 Kennedy’s and see if one would run and let the chips fall. I mean come on it is not like anyone died.
Oh don’t forget we are doing great without a Dole or Bush.
FINALLY....thank you, Caroline for EXPOSING how STUPID the Kennedy’s REALLY ARE!!
“Pondering a Congress without Kennedys”
Makes me all squishy inside!
I can see this a-hole moving to Mass. and running for the Senate next time around.
No Kennedys in Congress. I feel like when Washington stepped down after two terms. What will come of the Republic?
What salary has ANY Kennedy worked for since the days when Papa Joe was a rumrunner bringing in Canadian whiskey in the 1920’s and importing political strategies from Italy and Germany in the 1930’s. Papa Joe was a BIG deal in the New Deal days.
Cant’ just sacrifice that, you know.
“...the adulation for Kennedy after his death...” Oh please! Any “adulation” was a pure creation of the MSM. Slobbering news readers “interviewing” slobbering, mindless libs on the street.
Congress will never be the same without them. :-)
Someday I hope that my children or grandchildren will be able to introduce themselves without also having to say, “No. We are not related to THOSE Kennedys.”
The Kennedy’s can seal and stripe the asphalt with their kin!!!
Pause? Are you kidding me? My immediate reaction is to shout "Eff Yah!" and do a fist pump in the air.
I am a Gen Xer and the only Kennedy’s I have seen in my lifetime have been stupid and scandalous. For the life I me I have never understood the idolotry that the liberal MSM and academia have showered on the Kennedy’s.
It's a good start. So many others with a sense of entitlement that must go as well.
But hey,
Kennedy gone.
Murtha gone.
Kennedy gone
Kinda says something when it takes so much to bring fresh folks into our Congress.
Will take months to fumigate
