Mortimer B. Zuckerman, the real estate tycoon and publisher of The Daily News, is considering a bid for the Senate seat now held by Kirsten E. Gillibrand, according to two people told of the discussions.

Mr. Zuckerman regards Ms. Gillibrand as vulnerable to a challenge and is hoping that, at a time of economic tumult and political unrest, his background as an outsider to government, and his record as a business executive, will appeal to the state’s electorate, these people said.

He has big time buyers remorse regarding Obama and I think he wants to throw a wrench in the Democrat works.

The only grown-up on the scene is Paul Volcker. It is sad that you have to be 80 years old to qualify anymore.

He regrets his vote for Obama so that's as good as it gets for NY State.

Spot on. Also this: his concerns and priorities and tendencies seem to me to be identical to those of Joe Lieberman. It seems impossible for a jet-set Jewish man NOT to be a social liberal. However, for both men, their most identifying political characteristcs are wrapped up in security for the US and Israel, and the ways that those two concerns go hand-in-hand. To me, that is the post 9/11 reality that set in on the likes of Dennis Miller, Ron Silver and Ed Koch (just to name a few). I find Zuck quite acceptable in the role of Senator from NY, in the (R) caucus.

He also hates how Obama has handled the economy. He thinks Obama is,to quote Zuckerman,” A disaster”.
