Can Judd Gregg help White House save health bill?
Politico ^ | 02/11/2010 | DAVID ROGERS

Is Judd Gregg a tease or a real potential partner for President Barack Obama in trying to salvage some health care reform in this Congress?

That’s one question the White House has to answer for itself before the much-ballyhooed televised sit-down with Republicans on Feb. 25 on how to break the current stalemate.

In a letter to Obama released late Tuesday, Gregg welcomed the meeting as a chance for “constructive dialogue” and is promoting his own lower-cost approach focused on preventive care and guaranteed catastrophic coverage for all families.

His letter warns the president that the House- and Senate-passed health care bills can’t be the sole basis for the discussions. But in a series of interviews with POLITICO, Gregg has been open to specific deficit-reduction and cost-containment steps that could be taken to win Republicans’ support for health reform.

Gregg is anxious to make a difference in his last months. At the same time, conservatives recently used his retirement date as a way to isolate Gregg and undercut his bipartisan plan.

Gregg has yet to reduce his ideas to formal legislation but bundles them under the catchy title CPR: coverage, prevention and reform.

Pubs should just say no to this. Demons are just going to go the recon route if they don’t get there way which is to say that any of the pubs ideas will not be accepted. Reid already stuck it to the pubs over the jobs bill and they just can’t be trusted. BO caught in the middle on this one. They should tell BO the next time he makes claims about there not being any bipartisanship to point the finger at his own party. They should just tell them to pass it without any pub support. PERIOD!

It’s politicians like this that prove there’s no difference in parties. Judd should look at the polls before he shoots off his self-serving mouth.

RINO alert. Email bomb should be applied in an effort to counter this Constitutional betrayal.

Is there a republican that can be trusted? I can probably count on one hand those who definitely can, but all the rest, they are all rinos!

Hard to say if there are many genuine Republicans for they all like to cave into principals and then attack all those who criticize. The fact is the part need to keep opposing everything, but Gregg doesn’t care. He probably is more concerned with his legacy. It is a shame because in his view he wants to be at the table and get his views across. He is only going to make it worse. Any Republican thinking like this needs to be voted out.
