I feel the same resentments at over-regulation and the "heavy hand" of government, but I really got tired of the anti-business rhetoric that made me as an employer out to be so greedy and evil. Being the declared enemy of tax policy is no fun, so I got out.
Excellent. Forwarded the link to some lib acquaintances...just to see the reaction.

Excellent. The only thing that really puzzles me is why the ruling class is so opposed to business; they must realize that their prosperity ultimately comes from US business. Although perhaps our contemporary ruling class is so much the product of government employment (including elected positions) and the Never-Never Land environment of the academy that they literally have no idea where prosperity really comes from.
In any case, they also feel that earned prosperity is "unfair," and that the only legitimate kind of prosperity is government-awarded.
That's when decades of liberal energy policy came home to roost, and four-dollar gas took several hundred thousand from my bottom line faster than I could possibly react. That same gas price slammed my customers -- and my customers' customers -- forcing our company into a vice of rapidly rising costs and rapidly dropping revenues. Oh, and for fun, there were also slower payments from our customers. Thank you, environmental wackos!
The really troublesome part of this is knowing that the Kool-aid drinkers in his cabal will decry this information as ‘hopelessly inaccurate’ or ‘simply wrong’. But, the inner circle, close to the anointed one, will know that it is the truth, and will work diligently to deny it and direct our attention elsewhere.
It’s time to take back the country.

Best thing I have read in a long time.
He rambled and rambled but never said why he threw in the towel. Having been in 25 busunesses, it might be that the one he quit was no good from the start. He never really said. Mostly he was ranting.
The piece struck me as similar to Obama’s constant theme....Bush’s fault, blame someone else
Businessmen - get over it !!!!!!!!!!
Half of all busineesses were part of a bubble and it's going away for 20 years or more until debt is written down.
Government is trying to prevent asset price collapse and prevent debt writedowns it won't work !!!!!
The credit card companies were all making changes in advance of the new rules congress made to supposedly “help” consumers.
I work for a company which makes sensors which are used in everything from hard drives to cars to missles to wind turbines etc. Last year we had or first layoffs in the company’s 40+ years in business due to a 25% drop in our bookings. Now we are actually hiring back some of those laid off, but hiring them through a temp agency—our company always hired direct prior to this.
The point is that our management is bringing them back as temps, not because we want to try before we buy, these are already trained and seasoned employees who have a good work history with us. Management is going the temp route because of the uncertainty of the regulatory environment black cloud which Zero and crew have created.
It's because business owners are smarter than you and your ilk. We've been had before by shysters and can tell a con man when we see one.
The entire government is as courrupt as the mafia. The only difference is, we get nothing in return from the government, it's just take take take.
The only businessmen I know who take a loan to boost payroll are those with a government contract. Real businessmen (the majority of us) boost payroll gradually based on profits that are actually in our hands and a reasonable expectation of steady demand, or we used to. I, like many employers, no longer boost payroll at all. I helped some employees to go into business for themselves, watched others leave through attrition, and I’m not hiring as long as the socialist is in power. It’s fear of Obama/Pelosi, not fear of difficulty getting a loan that gets in the way. As for getting a loan, I can get one any time I want it. I just would never use a loan to hire employees on speculation.
I am coming at this from a slightly different angle.
My company needs sales reps, but because of the taxes and liability involved, we cannot afford to hire them as employees. We pay generous commissions, but cannot afford “benefits.”
We have track records from previous reps, and industry reports, showing that $50K in the first year is a reasonable expectation. It could be more. Additionally, there are many positives about being an independent contractor - scheduling flexibility, tax breaks, etc. - that should be inviting to the right person.
What I am seeing is a bunch of whiny, lazy middle aged men who find themselves unemployed from their $80K+ job and who truly expect to get another $80K+ job handed to them. They also expect fully paid health insurance, a matching retirement plan, and two weeks paid vacation in their first year. Their delusions are being aided by nearly two years of unemployment compensation which encourages them to keep looking for jobs that aren’t there and turning down opportunities that are available today.
While extension of “unemployment compensation” may be compassionate, it is not helping small business find employees.
the Politicians on Planet Washington (The largest gas giant in the SS.) are running ahead full speed, in the fog, and the harbor is hopelessly lost.
We decided to put our house on the market and pay down any outstanding debt. Our main goal right now is risk mitigation. While we have not seen the revenue hit that many small businesses have, I am concerned about direction. Hence, limit spending, reduce exposure, and reduce income near-term.
Next home will be a rental, BTW. No debt is my mantra right now.
Good time to spend with the kids.
With your attitude, I can see why you are having trouble getting people to work for you. (Just another whiny, lazy, middle aged man.)
