Cops exist to protect the institutions that employ them, not the citizens, not the constitution. The second Amendment is the greatest poison pill every inserted into a constitution anywhere. It scares the Shiite Muslim right out of government employees. Cops work for courts, city councils and prosecutors. They don’t work for you.

“One week could just be a bad week. If it’s still going on in two weeks or a month, then we’ll have a serious issue and have to...”

Huh...people may be moving out by that time. And Vallejo turns into another South Gate or Huntington Park.

When seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Necessary to the security (of the community)
They have a crime spree the best solution is blow away the criminals and the recidivism rate drops to zero.

The city probably already HAS a gun range for police training and practice, and it’s probably used for only a small percentage of reasonably shooting hours each week. Just open it up to the public.

Have your cell phone ready to call police if you're walking alone.

Remember that when your life is on the line and every second counts...the police are only minutes away.

I like this one:
The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. ‘Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?’ ‘No Ma’am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle.’

"The Constitution allows citizens who are not otherwise prohibited from having a gun to have a firearm in their home."

My copy doesn't mention anything about it being limited to the home.

*shrug* Perhaps not the best solution, but certainly a quite workable one...

Wow...I had to search to determine if this article was talking about the US or Mexico. This fellow is blind to the problems - not only those that effect citizens within his area of control, but really confuses home protection with gun ownership. He is the one that needs some education! With this kind of police protection, heaven help up...

“Could you give me a minute to make a phone call before killing me, please? I’m just going to call the police so they know where to find my body. Thanks!”

I have a concealed weapons permit in Oregon. My instructor said you should fire 3,000 rounds to reach the top of a learning curve allowing you to draw, rack the weapon if it’s a semi-auto, aim and fire accurately from 21 feet. That means about 6,000 dry fires also. So get a lot of ammo and some good training, because you don’t want Bubba and his ACLU lawyer to present their side of the event.

The police are always complaining about being hamstrung by procedures and they also lament the revolving-door prison system. What’s the harm in letting law-abiding citizens - who aren’t hamstrung by police procedure - take care of the problem for them when attacked?

rack the weapon if it’s a semi-auto

Agree with all that except the rack the weapon part. When I carry, the weapon (Glock) is already racked. You loose 1/3 to 1/2 a second having to rack after draw. Not unsafe if you practice, practice, practice and practice some more.

This video is interesting in that a store owner fires back against two armed criminals, yet the yahoo at the 46 second mark doesn’t believe he should have shot the one in the manner he did.

Propaganda works, unfortunately.

There’s nothing dangerous about carrying with one in the chamber as long as the person keeps his or her finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. Mine has a safety, and sometimes I think that might take too much time.

I’ve never heard of an instructor carrying their weapon otherwise.
