This was a textbook case on how to end a campaign in one interview. Tea Party candidate Debra Medina imploded today on the Glenn Beck radio show. The Republcian candidate for governor is a 9-11 Truther. She said questions still remain. Trail Blazers reported:
TV and radio commentator Glenn Beck dismissed the candidacy of Debra Medina when she left open the door to a conspiracy fringe group that believe the U.S. government might have been behind the 9-11 destruction of the World Trade Center.
Beck, a leading personality for conservatives, asked her point blank if she believed such a theory.
I dont have all the evidence there, Glenn, Medina replied. So Im not in a place I have not been out publicly questioning that. I think some very good questions have been raised in that regard. Theres some very good arguments and I think the American people have not seen all the evidence there so Ive not taken a position there.
He then asked if she would disavow people on her campaign team that held such a theory.
Im certainly not into mind control or thought policing people, Medina said. I dont see us having a team of radical individuals, if you will.
When she signed off the program, Beck let out a long Oooh.
Regardless, still a national audience.
He asked her a question, and she answered. Not really a hatchet job.
I heard the interview. It was a hatchet job.
She flat out denied being a "truther", so Beck rephrased in more general and vague terms until he received a reply that he could deliberatedly misinterpret as an "admission".
Beck is a weasel. Screw him...
If one of the Tea Party objectives during the primary elections is to support conservative candidates who are more responsive to the grass roots, then we also need to hold "conservative" media personalities to a higher standard as well.
Glen Beck fails miserably.
He's just a lazy, dumbass shock jock who's padding his own bank account by sucking up to the current political status quo.
A grass roots activist he ain't.
A credible journalist he ain't.
He's just a bumbling hatchet man, and an ignorant one to boot.
I just don’t understand the shouts of “Heretic!” coming from people who claim to be the “defenders of the constitution.”
Our government was born out of suspicion of government, yet today’s American has none, as long their “side” is at the helm.
This is not healthy and does not bode well for freedom.
It’s a psychological question. Why is it so awful to wonder whether or not your government, that’s already known to be corrupt and immoral, had a hand in an event that resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans?
Now, I can understand questioning the question. But the reaction from conservatives is not a logical one, it’s emotional: “No way would George Bush do that! You nutcase!”
It’s a knee-jerk reaction resulting from a desire to protect something, and lots of conditioning/reinforcement by their “leaders” and the mass media machine.
“an indication of her thought processes.”
Well, Scott Brown gave us a clear view of his baby-killing tendencies and that didn’t stop so-called “conservatives” from running out to vote for the nude-poser, did it?
Let’s see....sucking out a babies brains in mama’s belly, or questioning the evil of government? Hmmm.... Hold on, I’m thinking...
I believe Perry wins and this doesn’t help Medina any, before this she may have moved into second behind Perry. Now she will finish a distant third and be only a faint memory.
You Medina supporters are obnoxious.
You could not even reign in the nuts during the Pro-Life march last month in Austin.
Some turd tried to upstage the Governor’s pro-life speech with a political stunt of waving a Medina pro-life sign 20 ft. from Perry during his talk - which he fully deserves the right give at the request of our various state Pro-Life Organization.
Instead, drueling Medina conspiracy theory nuts tried to turn it into a full blow political campaign event. Very low class.
I agree with you completely. I found myself moving in her direction over the past month. I am so glad that Beck asked her this. You are right, this question was a softball that should have been hammered out of the park. She whiffed. I am now firmly behind Perry, thanks to this interview. Welcome to Texas - if your relocation happened recently. Remember: If you’re not sleeping in Texas you’re just camping out.
I wouldn’t get past the driveway without wheezing.
you posted,
“those who own the wealth of a country own the government. The best change of liberty is when the ownership is divided into factions and must appeal to the people to decide between them.’
You want the gov’t to give you part of MY OWNERSHIP?
COME AND TAKE IT!
Thank you for that. Can you provide a link for that discussion between Alex Jones and Rand Paul. I’d like to send it to Beck.
Glenn: Do you believe the government was in any way involved 911?
Medina: I don’t have all the evidence...Some good questions have been raised in that regard, not all the evidence has been viewed.
just saying that she should have known that carrying that kind of baggage wouldn’t hold with conservative voters and if she didn’t know, then what else doesn’t she know. Her credibiliy is shot. As a hispanic I was really rooting for her but that’s politics for you.
THIS government is now tracking every website we visit and now says it will track every cellphone. They can do that even if its off, you know.
The same people who went nuts when Bush wanted to spy on terrorists!
Did you ever get a forthright answer like...”Well senior, I would fight for Mexico, but I hope we never have a war.” Does honesty count?
I’d take a forthrightly honest man over a shuck and jiving double edged talking man...for I doubt the honest man would steal from my business!
I am extremely disappointed in this.
It seems to me that is what she was doing...beating around the bush trying to make both sides of the issue happy.
Why Jefferson wanted to keep an agrarian society, where wealth is, more or less, evenly divided. So far as the people are concerned in our country only taxpayers really count, the half who pay income tax.
She didn’t care about making sides happy on any other issue has she? Obvious she shares too much staff and baggage with Ron Paul.
The best one can say about this is that she didn’t know how to deflect the question. My guess is that she is like Kay Bailey on abortion. She actually thinks she is occupying a middle position.
I don’t have a vote in this election, but if I did....
1. I am not inclined to vote for a RINO, but
2. I would never, ever vote for a whackjob, no matter how conservative their positions were.
I would probably sit it out.
