Orthodox Jewish groups are trying to persuade Gov. Charlie Crist to spare the life of Martin Grossman, a convicted killer scheduled for execution Tuesday.
National Council of Young Israel, Agudath Israel of America, Orthodox Union, Chabad, Satmar, Rabbinical Alliance of America and the nonprofit Aleph Institute are among 200 organizations asking Crist to grant a 60-day stay of execution to allow a clemency application to be considered. Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty also is trying to get Crist to spare Grossman's life.
Grossman was convicted of shooting Margaret Park, 26, in the head after she found him and a friend at a nature reserve, where they went to fire a gun. Grossman asked Park not to report him because it would have been a violation of his probation on a burglary conviction. There was a struggle, Park drew her gun and Grossman shot her with it.
The Florida Supreme Court this week upheld the sentence.

LOL.
I originally read “Crist” as “Christ” and began to note a strange sense of irony, until I read it again.
they have had 26 years to file for clemency....times up...buh bye...
haha. very good point regarding Crist/Christ... Jews pleading to Christ...
Then maybe they ought to crucify him...no sympathy here for convicted murderers.
Crist died for your sins.
Ok if this guy is an Orthdox Jew then just Stone him.
Just for information:
Grossman is mentally handicapped (IQ 77 and other mental problems) and the murder was not ‘premeditated’.
I don’t believe either of those things make a difference, but with today’s goofus legal system, they are reasons to take a look.

Yeah, lets have us a Rock concert.
Show him mercy.
Hang him high.
Why the hell do some religious groups all of sudden feel a need to spare some villain’s life merely do to his religious affiliation?
That sounds pretty bigotted to me.
My grandfather used to say, “He knew to do it; he knew NOT to do it”.
Crist has enough RINO troubles heading into his primary battle. Say goodbye, Grossman.

I do not understand why a crime like this warrants the death penalty, when so many more heinous, terrible crimes go by everyday. It just doesn’t make sense. If this were today, he wouldn’t get the death penalty.
yep
If this is what the jury decided this is what he needs.
IMHO, I don’t feel the death penalty should be administered except for premeditated murder for personal gain, but I will defer to the jury.
From what I can see, in FL they put people in jail for years for things I consider accidents (not this) and don’t put people in jail for things they should NEVER get out for. But I guess that happens everywhere.
The IQ thing (and other mental problems) are a total dodge. It's immaterial what his IQ is, or if he hears voices. He killed somebody with a gun in a public park. It also sounds like he had a criminal history.
Not premeditated carries a lot more weight with me. Normally that would be murder 2, with a life sentence. But in 23 years that issue should have been addressed.
Twenty-three years is enough. Execute him and he'll have no more mental problems.
O bull, no Jew has an IQ of 77.
