same controversy, earlier topic; I've skipped a few of these also, but regardless, many thanks Britt0n for posting this one. North Carolina: it's not all entirely bad news: Just adding to the catalog, not sending a general distribution.

I have admitted that I was wrong to respond unkindly to provocation. Are you willing to admit that you misrepresented Lucky’s post?

As I said privately, I will be happy to apologize in public.

Yes, I misrepresented the tone and tenor by the original poster. What I should have said in private was that I thought you did not respond in a manner reflecting your name. My public admonishment was un-Christian and I apologize for not upholding the standards I have been taught.

I would appreciate all the references to homeschooling to cease...DUH! of course it’s better. Fact is, though, many of us are not in a position to be able to,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Yes, on average homeschooling is far superior.

And you are correct that some parents absolutely have no other option than institutionalize schooling in the government schools. These parents are too poor, too stupid, too dysfunctional, to ill-educated, too lazy, too sick...etc.

Yes, there will always be some children that need institutionalization for their schooling. We need orphanages too, but no one would consider an orphanage to be the best place for rearing a child.

Please don’t forget that I feed my kids lead paint chips for kicks, too.

Looks like the plan is progressing right on schedule.

These boys are surely getting ambitious. Substituting "American" with "global citizen."

Has anyone checked to see if there is enough rope in the locker? We are going to need a lot more than previously thought.

The annual cost, per child, for the aforementioned(previous post) grandchildren’s public school education is $14,000.00

My 5 kids attended school in the same town but it was just at the beginning of the PC insanity.

I am now retired and am supporting other kids’ education.

Did you read Lucky9teen’s first post. She came out guns blazing.

She did come out with gun blazing and your reading comprehension is excellent and completely on target.

Don't apologize or allow trolls to push the guilt button.

I accept your apology. None of us are perfect in our dealings with others. If we were we wouldn’t need Christ to redeem us. Blessings!

Parents who would deliberately poison their children are abusers. Abusers on this horrific level are likely neither homeschooling or institutionalizing their children for their schooling but have their children hidden away in a basement or closet somewhere.

For years and years it has been homeschoolers who have had to justify their decision to homeschool. Now that there are enough adults to study we now know that children who have been homeschooled for all ( or nearly all) of their childhood are fairing far better than their institutionalized contemporaries.

Formerly homeschooled adults have greater social participation in the community; vote more regularly; volunteer more; have fewer divorces, have higher academic attainment; and are far, far, far more likely to be active and faithful to the faith of their fathers. It is almost non-existent for a formerly homeschooled adult (who has been entirely or nearly entirely homeschooled ) to be in prison or on welfare. If you do not believe me check out the Homeschooled Legal Defense Association.

Homeschoolers have absolutely nothing to justify! Even parents with the most minimal education are doing a better job than the government schools on average. It is the parent who decides to institutionalize their children for their schooling who needs to do the explaining.

Are there successful institutionalized children? Yes, of course there are! There are **always** outliers in every research study.

Good grief; how many times do I have to say, I’m on your side. I am an advocate of homeschooling; we can’t do it, I’m glad you can and applaud you. What gets me is the “assumption” HS’s make that everyone can if they wanted to, and pointing out the redundant reiterative regurgitating comment that, “just goes to show how folks need to homeschool”...it kinda makes us folks who don’t feel less than human. :) I hope I’m clear now.

We have to put a stop to this nonsense, and we need to remove from any position of influence anyone who thinks such changes are appropriate.

It is like a contaminated petri dish. The germs will just grow back.

What needs to be done is complete privatization of K-12 schooling.

Do you want to homeschool? What obstacles are keeping you from it? I am sure that homeschoolers could offer you some helpful solutions for overcoming them. If you really want to, I am sure we could all help to find a way to get you and your kids home. Blessings!

Glad your children are safe at home, Battman. I also am a former public school teacher (7 years). It was enough for me to see the direction things were going. My three are in a conservative parochial school. It’s worth every penny we spend on it and more.

At this school, a number of grandparents are the reason why the children are there. They support them with tuition help and they help transport the children to and from school each day. Any grandparents reading this - make the offer and see if your children are receptive to you helping to provide their children with a better education.
