I’m not sure Nye is exactly qualified to make any assessments. What is his area of expertise?

From Wiki:

William Sanford "Bill" Nye (born on November 27, 1955),[popularly known as "Bill Nye the Science Guy", is an American comedian, television host, science educator and mechanical engineer.

In other words, he's as qualified as Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore.

According to Wikipedia he has a bachelor's degree in engineering and has worked in the aeronautics industry.

I know, Wiki, but that backs up what I thought I remembered about him.

Even if he had any expertise in meteorology that would be negated by his attack on the patriotism of anyone who has an opinion different from his. He showed himself thereby to be just another watermelon with no real data to back his beliefs.

Whenever a leftist accuses someone of anything, it is usually a good idea to investigate that leftist for doing that very thing.

Nye appears on the PBS channels, doesn't he? I'd say his first and foremost area of expertise is now obvious. He's a propagandist.

You asked, “I’m not sure Nye is exactly qualified to make any assessments. What is his area of expertise?”

The first line from Wiki below says it all. He sounds like a highly competent scientist with no expertise in Meteorology and a very political background. I don’t trust him.

Nye started in Washington, D.C. as a fourth-generation Washingtonian on his father’s side. After attending Lafayette Elementary and Alice Deal Junior High in the city, he was accepted to the private Sidwell Friends School on a partial scholarship, graduating in 1973.[2][3] He studied mechanical engineering at Cornell University’s Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, where one of his professors was Carl Sagan,[4] and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1977.[5]

Nye began his career in Seattle at Boeing at which point, among other things, he starred in training films and developed a hydraulic pressure resonance suppressor still used in the 747. Later, he worked as a consultant and in the aeronautics industry. Nye told the St. Petersburg Times in 1999 that he applied to be a NASA astronaut every few years but was always rejected.[6]
