Bill Nye 'The Science Guy': Denying Climate Change 'Unpatriotic,' 'Inappropriate'
Newsbusters ^ | February 11, 2010 | Jeff Poor

Challenging someone's patriotism is a pretty hefty charge to level in the political arena, based on the response when Barack Obama's patriotism was challenged during the 2008 election cycle.

However, there seems to be a different set of rules when it comes to questioning the authenticity of the manmade global warming argument in the wake of record-setting snowfall in the Mid-Atlantic. And this different standard applied to Bill Nye "The Science Guy," who appeared on MSNBC's Feb. 10 "Rachel Maddow Show" and aired his disapproval of manmade climate change skeptics and labeled them "unpatriotic."

"[T]here's more energy in the atmosphere and this is stirring things up," Nye said. "If you want to get serious about it, these guys claiming that the snow in Washington disproves climate change are almost unpatriotic. It's really, they're denying science. So they're very happy to have the weather forecast be accurate within a few hours, but they're displeased or un-enchanted by predictions of the world getting warmer. It's really, it shakes me up."

Hey, Billie: Stick with changing bottles of water different colors. It seems that higher-level “science” is above your pay grade. You should be beaten with whatever mail-order degree(s) you have.

This is the usual lefty intellectual dishonesty. The issue isn’t whether the climate is changing (it always has), the issue is whether or not man is mostly responsible for this change. This is the same blurring of the difference between an immigrant and an ILLEGAL immigrant. Intellectual dishonesty on display.

I will admit it, I am “unpatriotic”.

No one is denying climate change. The climate changes. People are denying it's man made and we have to spend all our money trying to fix something we could never effect no matter what we did!

We, the so called "deniers" have more patriotism in our little fingers than this nutcase has in his entire being!

I’d like to know who these “older people” are who are incapable of grasping the concept of human caused global warming.

After all, he’s 10 years older than I am.

I’m getting just sick of these celeb bozos. He, above all, should know that “climate change” happens, PERIOD, no matter what. It’s called THE EARTH. This bait-and-switch with “climate change” for “global warming” is flat out dishonest, and people like Nye should be fired from any “scientific” jobs they hold.

From Wiki:

William Sanford "Bill" Nye (born on November 27, 1955),[popularly known as "Bill Nye the Science Guy", is an American comedian, television host, science educator and mechanical engineer.

In other words, he's as qualified as Nobel Peace Prize winner Al Gore.

**That’s a load of crap based on absolutely nothing. Someone should challenge him to prove it.**

Today, science is whatever the self-appointed, educated elite want it to be.

Here’s some old geezers who would not appreciate his age discrimination.

It’s tough for kids to pronounce ‘Bill Nye The Pseudoscience Guy’ but I suppose they’ll have to work at it.

I can understand being brainwashed enough to think humans cause climate change...

but how is a questioning attitude about it UNPATRIOTIC ???

This is the same administration that thinks paying taxes is patriotic. I am lead to believe that this buch thinks that those who want limited government are unpatriotic. I guess reading the Constitution is unpatriotic.

Bill Nye was funny on ‘Almost Live!’ years ago (Speedwalker was a howl), but passing himself off as a ‘scientist’? Please. He is a comedian...period. See: Jon Stewart.

Maybe he’ll kill himself?

I believe The Onion once ran an article titled something like: "Bill Nye Killed In Massive Vinegar/Baking Soda Explosion". It's even funnier in retrospect, because Nye's scientific credentials are at just about the elementary-school science fair (do they still have those?) level.

Let's see here...I don't accept the theory of anthropogenic global warming as proven.

I've also been involved with the military over 25 years, first the Navy as a nuc on subs and carriers, then as an engineer for the Army (especially Strykers and armored trucks). I've spent a fair amount of time hanging in bilges hanging upside down doing tag-outs, played cat-and-mouse with the Bear up north, performed carrier shock testing, fielded the first Strykers to 3/2 SBCT and deployed with them, and worked the rapid truck armoring efforts.

In the meantime, I married a wonderful woman who gave me two decent kids and maintained our home by herself while I was away for months downrange working for Uncle Sam.

And I'm unpatriotic?

Bill Nye, bite me.

but they're displeased or un-enchanted by predictions of the world getting warmer. It's really, it shakes me up."

Definitions of enchanted on the Web:

* influenced as by charms or incantations
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

* enchantment - a psychological state induced by (or as if induced by) a magical incantation
* enchantment - a magical spell
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

I hope that I am "un-enchanted". I don't want to be controlled by Al Gore's hocus pocus.

According to Wikipedia he has a bachelor's degree in engineering and has worked in the aeronautics industry.

I know, Wiki, but that backs up what I thought I remembered about him.

Even if he had any expertise in meteorology that would be negated by his attack on the patriotism of anyone who has an opinion different from his. He showed himself thereby to be just another watermelon with no real data to back his beliefs.

Whenever a leftist accuses someone of anything, it is usually a good idea to investigate that leftist for doing that very thing.
