This is the UK you're talking about. They're wusses now. "Yesterday jobless Severs, 22, and Michael Smith, 19, escaped with a suspended prison sentence and 100 hours of community work after admitting affray at the court." --> come on!!
"Mr Fullard told the jury he picked up the sword and 'hit him once' and intended for the 'flat of the sword' rather than the blade to connect. He then called police. " --> come on -- Fullard had the right to cut the guy's heads off -- they came in and attacked HIS family IN his home. In my book that means the gloves are off.

The prosecution refused to accept that his actions amounted to lawful self-defence and argued it was 'over the top' to attack a man armed with a knuckleduster by using a 'battlefield weapon'. This is the mentality of liberals.
It is the same insanity that infects the 'gun control' crowd.
If two thugs, high on drugs and booze, break into my house to rob, murder, maim, and rape - I don't debate whether or not my sword is superior to their weapons.
INSANITY.

A prosecutor who would bring charges in such a situation should be kicked out of office and disbarred.
Had the guy come into my house like that he would have had the point of the sword sticking out his back.

“David Fullard, 47, was prosecuted for attacking the two strangers who forced their way into his home and threatened to rape his partner and kill his two teenage children”
How in the name of all that's Holy can England defend such backward laws? Under what sick veil of cowardice did this mindset emerge? Churchhill would be spinning in his grave.

It is no accident that in a great many British homes there is an ornamental samurai sword conveniently to hand.

over the top' to attack a man armed with a knuckleduster by using a 'battlefield weapon'. So they're required to give home invaders a sporting chance?

Should never have been prosecuted for self defense, PERIOD! Bet the Lawyer's they had to hire were expensive with no chance of getting the money returned for false prosecution.

A father who defends his family: prosecuted by the government.
Two drug crazed home invaders: free and clear.
The government of England has a death wish for its own people.

Over the top? Over the top is the fact that the two a-holes make a living stealing other people's things.
It's a shame it was his ear and not his head.

Anyone want to bet that the prosecutors have handguns in their homes? I say they do.

I don't debate whether or not my sword is superior to their weapons.
If they did it to me, here in Tennesssee, they wouldn't be met with a sword. 'Nuff said.
To: marktwain
THAT’ll teach him to leave the intruders ALIVE next time...
This is RIDICULOUS! When idiots break into your HOUSE, you don’t know WHAT weapons they have NOR what they are prepared to do.
Stories like this tell me the day it happens at my house, I’m going to prison for the rest of my life.
To: marktwain
Judge, when outnumbered by attacking forces I have no obligation to determine what the court would consider a fair fight. My ONLY obligation is to protect my family!

The prosecution refused to accept that his actions amounted to lawful self-defence and argued it was 'over the top' to attack a man armed with a knuckleduster by using a 'battlefield weapon'. So, in England, you don't really have a right to self-defense, you just have a right to fight for your life?
