Iranian threat of a stunning punch causes concern in D.C.

WASHINGTON (KMOX Radio) -- A warning earlier this week from Iran's supreme ruler that his country will deliver a "punch" February 11th that will "stun" the West is being taken seriously at the highest levels of the U-S government, according to Missouri's two Senators.

Democratic Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill described the concern about Iran today in Washington as a matter of "almost hyper focus."

"I know the military is monitoring it carefully. I know the intelligence community is monitoring it carefully. I can't share many of the details of that. But I will say that I think our government is very, very, very concerned."

Earlier this week, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a speech that: "The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance (Western Powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned."

“USA could do nothing since it was not attacked”

Canadians work at NORAD, and i have a REAL hard time believing we would watch iranian missiles rain on Canada and feel like we were foiled, “can’t do ANYTHING, it was only Canada”.

Well stated. We’ll see soon enough how wrong they’ve been.

And we can utterly anihilate anyone who does that to us,,,emp or not. NOt to mention tons of emp problems are solved by powering back up. Not all, but far more than you think. We have done emp tests in the past. Granted it was in times of far less consumer electronics, but emp would be a full-on suicidal move.

You see,,we have many many many ICBM’s deep underwater in USN subs, happily safe from ANY emp attack.

EMP is overrated,,,

Odd, two situations popping up where Iranian and Chinese moves seem in concert:

Google gets in big fight with China-———>Iran shuts down GoogleMail in Iran.
______

Two days ago, Khameni annouces a “punch” against the West.-————>Today the Chinese military releases a “discussion” about “counter-punching” the US:

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6183KG20100209?loomia_ow=t0:s0:a49:g43:r2:c0.107362:b30475636:z0

Probably coincidental, but kinda odd.

"However, some have determined that not long ago an earthquake in a remote location in Iran had a seismic signature that fits with a nuclear detonation..."

That one slipped by me. Do you have a URL -- or, better yet, Lat-Long coordinates -- or, even a date for that?

Good point about the Chinese. But i still would be amazed if China moved against their biggest market and debtor. That would be instant financial ruin for them. Unless of course, “O” has screwed things up behind the scenes somehow.

There was another thread with a link confirming this hypothesis. It posited 3 US cities might be targeted, NYC, Washington DC, (I forget the last). Same reference to ability to rebuild a freighter to launch missiles off the east coast, which might be dirty bombs or a 40,000 air burst EMP device.

The link was posted around 4pm PST 10Feb10.

It also posed a number of other possible targets or concurrent sceanrios including:

A kiloton device detonating in Iran against civil enemies, not affording others justification to intervene, but entering the nuclear club.

Attack on Allied or US warships in the gulf.

Multiple terrorist cells in the US formed over the last 10 years as dark cells being activated.

Then again it might also simply be another Conspiracy Theory bluff, which Iran and Al Quaida have utilized fairly routinely now over the past 10 years. Since some terrorist activity has happened in the last 10 years, it isn’t always a bluff.

About 3 hrs until midnight in east coast. Already 11Feb10 in Iran, though only about 5:55AM in Tehran and 4:25AM in Jerusalem.

Is the Iranian satellite still in orbit?

Iran Launches Rocket With Animals Into Space(Tehran)
2/3/2010, 11:47 a.m. EST
Thomas ErdbrinkThe Associated Press

(AP) — c ()-2010, The Washington Post

TEHRAN-Iran said it successfully fired a new, domestically produced research rocket into space Wednesday, with several live animals aboard-a feat that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said illustrated his country's technological prowess.

State television broadcast images of the launch of the 10-foot long Kavoshgar (Explorer)-3, and showed officials putting a mouse, two turtles and about a dozen creatures that looked like worms inside a capsule that was placed in the rocket before it blasted off.

----snip----

The capsule, which the Kavoshgar-3 rocket carried into space, landed safely later Wednesday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported. Studies on the live animals that were inside are underway.

...just wondering. Can't find any tracking info on it.

...that doesn’t mean the radio station would even be online but at least I would have a working radio to try.

In a total breakdown, wouldn't ham operators move into AM and FM bands? You just have to believe hams have hardened their systems.
