Marvel admits to 'mistake' in controversial Captain America comic

"Where Mr. Houston is correct is in our accidently identifying in one of the held up signs, the group as being a part of the Tea Party instead of a generic protest group. That’s something that we need to apologize for and own up to, because it’s just one of those stupid mistakes that happened through a series of stupid incidents. "

According to to Mr. Quesada, the book was ready to go to printer, but the panel in question had a group of protesters handling signs with no words on them, so the editor asked the letterer to "fudge in" some quick believable slogans at the last minute. The letterer referred to this sign as a sample to work from. Unfortunately, the reach of the Tea Party smear job from broadcast media affected a story line at Marvel Comics, regardless of error. While, comic book companies want to give fantasy characters a sense of current day realism, wading into areas of politics is guaranteed kryptonite for at least half their readership.

heck, they may be getting tax credits for doing this. I recall an article about a decade ago describing how broadcasters were getting tax credits for putting social-behavior messages (mainly anti-drug i think) into their content.

Marvel comic books jumped the shark in the early 90’s. The number of issues they sold peaked in the mid 80’s. If it wasn’t for their film franchises which mostly work off their pre-collapse story lines, they would already be out of business. Part of the reason for their collapse is they no longer can keep any consistency in their characters and suffer from attention deficit disorder. The current crop of creative talent is also adamantly left-leaning and enamored by group think in the entertainment business.

***I would boycott but I must have my Spidey and Deadpool...***

I’ll just stick with my 50 year old CLASSICS ILLUSTRATED, COMBAT and BORIS KARLOFF’S THRILLER.

I went to eBay and they are selling for 20 dollars now.

Of course I spent a couple hundred euros on other comics. This is how I get into bad trouble with my wife. Goodbye cruel world!

(but i got this! #1-41 )

I remember when Superman stood for “Truth, Justice and the American Way” he'd have none of Marvel’s BS.

Look, if they made an honest mistake, then I can accept this as an apology.

So I suppose we need to decide if it was an honest mistake, or if they were another liberal group who were clueless to the massive number of paying customers who are part of the Tea Party movement.

Any ideas on how to find an answer?

You have got to understand; they are liberals. Therefore, they are lying. Period, no questions.

John 8:44
44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

O.K., I’ve been reading Marvel comics since I was probably five years old. Action #1 (the first Superman) paid off my uncle’s home in the 70’s. I learned to read on comics; but, I’ve always known they had a liberal hook. You have to remember , these folks are artists and we know artists lean far to the left. I have to admit though, this hurts.

I am usually a huge Marvel fan. I was a G.I. Joe fan in the 80’s. The lefties would probably hate this, G.I. Joe and DC’s G.I. Combat (the Haunted Tank) solidified my desire to join the Army.

I don’t want to be critical; however, they have gone so far the left in recent years that I don’t use any of my $100,000.00 income to buy comics anymore, and that actually makes me as unhappy as their accountants must be. I am sure I am not the only adauld kid that would love to read a comic but don’t want to be preached at.

Last night on the Fox Network (not Fox News) after AmIdol there was a show about past lives. A murder perp was described as “white” and “angry,” to which one of the “investigators” quipped “we suspect he’s Republican.”

I switched the channel and guess won’t visit it again, except for ‘24,’ which has declined in quality lately anyway. Maybe just give up tv.

(GOT SNOW?)

Oh yeah we got snow with a capital S.

We did get one day of school in so far this week. I very much doubt that we have school tomorrow. The wind is beginning to kick up now although the snow seems to be letting up some.

Forget about that snow letting up. It is now coming down harder than all day.

Our snow pretty much stopped around 2p, but we’re still under warning because of the winds. This am it was total blizzard, with heavy snow, whiteout, blowing in every direction. So far so good on power, thank GOD.

One of our local school districts on Monday decided they wouldn’t even bother trying to open this week. Others took it a day or two at a time .. bottom line, none will be back till next Tuesday! And, they were closed the entire week before Christmas. We don’t “do” snow well in VA.

Probably the feds will open with liberal leave in effect on Friday so they ‘look good.’ And THEN have a 3 day weekend!

It just proves that reading comics does not harm the mind . You and I both turned out well even with a strong diet of comic books. My mother wailed about my reading habits but what she overlooked was that “I was reading”.
