Healthcare Rope-a-Dope Plays Coming Fast ("Sham" WH summit is a "trick")
Human Events ^ | February 10, 2010 | Connie Hair

President Obama and congressional Dems are planning two big “rope-a-dope” plays worthy of Muhammad Ali to get Obama’s nationalization of healthcare passed.

First, there’s a strategy to pass amendments -- making the current Senate bill more palatable to liberals -- and have the president wait to sign it until the House passes the Senate bill.

Second, having scored heavily against the Republicans in his visit to the Republican retreat in Baltimore a few weeks ago, Obama is inviting Republican House and Senate leaders to the White House for a healthcare “summit” on February 25. But that meeting is being planned as another Obama-dominated television event at which Republicans will be pummeled before a national audience.

(snip)

“The trick in all of this is that the president would have to sign the Senate bill first, then the reconciliation bill second, and the reconciliation bill would trump the Senate bill,” Wendell Primus told health policy experts gathered at the National Health Policy Conference hosted by Academy Health and Health Affairs.

(snip)

The Senate reconciliation bill trick that would “fix” the Senate-passed health care bill would then have to pass the House. If the fix trick is passed, the plan is to then pass the Senate health care bill through the House and send it all to the President’s desk for signature.

Obama says he wants to work with Republicans...but less than 3 weeks ago, he openly defied the legislature...here it is from the SOTU:

Yesterday, the Senate blocked a bill that would have created this commission. So I will issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward...

So much for working with the Congress....he will ignore them if they don't want to do what he wants...

Obama says he wants to work with Republicans and not be partisan. So let's look at what he said to his fellow DEMOCRATS in the SOTU:

To Democrats, I would remind you that we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve some problems, not run for the hills.

In other words, stay the course. We are still in charge.

Obama also took an oath in January of 2009 to uphold the Constitution. The Supreme Court, established by the Constitution, ruled on a matter of the First Amendment. And what did BO do in his State of the Union? He attacked the third branch of government: and he did it by lying about one of their recent rulings involving the Freedom of Speech!

Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law...for special interests – including foreign corporations – to spend without limit in our elections... Well I don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that's why I'm urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong.

My final example has to do with Obama's mindset on why he wants to RUSH everything he wants through the government: he knows when people look at it they don't like it! He even admitted the same about his socialized health care plan:

...this is a complex issue, and the longer it was debated, the more skeptical people became. I take my share of the blame for not explaining it more clearly to the American people.

In other words, just jamming it through quickly would have been BETTER! For Obama to say he DIDN'T EXPLAIN IT MORE is a farce. He had town hall meetings, called a joint session of Congress, had hundreds of his little Congresscritters going out into the nation spreading his lies, and had a mainstream media ignoring the contents of the bill!

What REALLY happened was that Americans saw the bill and HATED IT.

Obama doesn't care--he still wants to push it through.

Thats obvious to everyone I think.

Obvious to everyone except for a disturbing number of Republican politicians, I'd say.

The GOP should send a letter outlining their proposals to Zero and every MSM outlet editor. Say THIS is our PLAN, we don’t need any meetings for Presidential Photo Ops..............

Does anyone have an address as to where I should send my complimentary jar of vaseline to any Republicans who participate in the “bipartisan” “health care” sham?

Does anyone really believe that Obama “scored” in his meeting with Republicans?

You can't fall off the floor, as they say -— but still, I thought Obama was a wind bag, the little I was able to watch.

“We’re about to see how smart or how stupid the Republicans are.”

Scary. The RINO’s are leading the charge.

"I gave them the sword. They stuck it in, and they twisted it with relish."

These "leaders" would be wise to heed Nixon's words.

that hit me too- when did that pompous lecture to the GOP in Baltimore turn into a stunning success for obummer?

Unless his idea of success is that half the audience he was alternately cajoling and talking down to, didn’t just get up and walk out on him.

The GOP is entirely too much into the “protocol” and “politeness” of tolerating this president’s arrogance, ignorance, rudeness and lies.... and then applauding them.

He needs to be confronted at the moment he lies, not in next day’s editorial pages.

HUm.

The president didn’t score big at the GOP retreat, he got his lunch sack taken from him and the Republicans sat there and ate it right in front of him.

He got torn apart in that meeting and was VISIBLY unable to handle it.

This is SPIN. Make no assumptions that this article is correct. Its main purpose may be to simply plant the idea that the President scored a point with the GOP. He didn’t. He lost that encounter hands down, and it was OBVIOUS he was not going to become ANY more flexible in any sense of the word.

Nope this is a tactic, not compromise. The tactic is to pass EVERYTHING those socialist b******s want to ram down our throats and erase a HUGE part of the constitution in the process.

NO!! - TO ANY FORM OF THIS “HEALTH CARE” BILL.

Read a couple of posts on local Blogs, this idea that Obama “cleaned the floor” with the Congressional Republicans seems to be their major talking point.

The general public isn’t buying it, but the left is firing up their base, with this garbage.

I doubt that some Republicans will not be able to resist. I am sure that some RINOs have been wanting to vote for this monstrosity all along and the only reason they have been standing fast against it is because they know they can't get away with it. But once they have an excuse, they will go for it, and come out like Nelson and Landreau saying what a great deed they have done for the American people.
