Steele hints critics motivated by race

Critics of Michael Steele's tenure as Republican National Committee chairman are motivated by racism, Steele suggested in an interview published on Tuesday.

Speaking to Washingtonian magazine (no online version), Steele wondered why his Democratic National Committee counterpart doesn't get the same criticism he does.

"I don’t see stories about the internal operations of the DNC that I see about this operation," Steele said. "Why? Is it because Michael Steele is the chairman, or is it because a black man is chairman?”

Exactly. If you can throw a 100 MPH fast ball accurately, no one cares what you look like.

The country is going down the tubes, and this guy stops to have a pity party.

The Washington politicians are so arrogant, it MUST be everyone elses fault. In this case, it couldn't possibly be his inability to lead, oh no, so it must be.....uh.....race! Yeah, that's it. Race.
It couldn't possibly be him. Oh no. No way. The Washington politicians are picture perfect - Gods among men ( or so they'd like to have us believe).
Get over it, Steele. It's not your color. It's what's underneath it.

I wonder when blacks will finally realize that everyone else is not racist.

Funny they never consider themselves racists, although comments like this sure seem like they are.

Steele was promoted by whites, which he nows calls racists because he was promoted and has to be accountable.

Bizarro World.

Looks like Steele jumped the shark. If he is being criticized because he is black does that mean he got the job because he is black?

Say buh-bye Michael.

No, its because an idiot RINO is chairman who does not reflect the views of conservatives.

I don’t give a hoot what color your skin is. The only racist is the one who keeps bringing it up. Therefore the only racist in this conversation is Mike Steele.

Bubai Mike.

"Oh my goodness! Disgraceful! Steele using the race card makes me wonder if there IS a black man that is able to get through life WITHOUT use of the race card!"

There are some notable excpetions, but apparently not many. It's not a manly thing to whine and complain incessantly like they do. They seem to want to be pitied, and can't accept personal responsibility. They are the product of liberalism, which teaches them day-in and day-out that any lack of success they encounter is due to white racism, and never their own shortcomings.

Steele’s being an idiot. We should be above playing identity politics.

It was only a matter of time. Unable and/or unwilling to engage his conservative critics in an intellectual debate, Steele resorts to the race card. A play that comes right out of the Demrat playbook.

Here’s an idea. The poor “Retard” word has been “Retired” ... maybe it could be brought out of “retirement” to “replace” the word “racist”. (I’m learning from the Koz! :-) So instead of saying “that’s racist” ... we would say, “that’s retard” ... seems to have a ring to it, huh?

Oh ENOUGH ALREADY! Mr. Steele, your “blackedness” ain’t got a thing to do with our criticism of you. You’re a failure at your job and you’re costing the RNC millions in donations.......so just SHADDUP and resign!

It is instructive of Steele’s RNC performance that he mounts a name calling defense that no one listens to anymore. Namely, the race card. Memo to Steele: Onada, Sharpton and Jackson wore the ploy out. No one is intimidated by false claims of racism anymore.

You need to get out of the way. And I don’t care if a black, hispanic, asian or woman replaces you. All I care about is that who ever it is can think and says what he/she really believes, cares about America first, respects our Constitution, respects hard work, understands that abortion is the murder of human babies, understands what the term “public servant” means and understands that Capitalism made this country the economic giant that it is.

Apparently these simple concepts are beyond Steele’s ability to grasp.

He’s black?

All this time I thought he was just stupid.

He almost single handed persuaded me to go independent and end my financial support of the party. Coupled with the fact that it is so RHINO that it would name a putz like him as chariman.

Hey Mike,

A lot of us supported Ken Blackwell for the job you currently hold. We were willing to give you a chance because you were a better talker than Ken.

Now, most of us are thinking it would have been far easier to send Ken Blackwell to Toastmasters or some other good place where he could develop into a better speaker that it will ever be to teach you Ken Blackwell's character.

Wasn’t he chosen cause he’s black? If anything, the mistake was choosing him in the first place.
