A 63 percent majority of Americans, notably Democratic and Independent voters, want Congress to "Keep Trying" to pass a comprehensive health care reform plan, according to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll.
The survey, conducted Thursday through Monday, queried more than 1,000 voters across the country, and also asked which party is responsible for lack of cooperation in Washington, D.C. The margin of error was 3.5 percent.
The key question: "Do you think lawmakers in Washington should keep trying to pass a comprehensive health care reform plan, or should they give up on comprehensive health care reform?
Sixty-three percent said "Keep Trying" while 34 percent opted for "Give Up." By an 88 percent-to-8 percent margin, Democrats opted for trying. So did Independents, by a 56 percent-to-39 percent division.
By contrast, by a 55 percent-to-42 percent margin, Republicans opted for the give-up option.
The poll asked opinions of how well or badly President Obama and Republicans in Congress are doing on working with each other.
The presidential question: "Do you think Obama is doing too much, too little, or about the right amount to compromise with Republicans on important issues?
Forty-five percent said Obama is doing the "Right Amount," 44 percent felt he is doing "Too Little," with 9 percent opting that the president is doing "Too Much" to cooperate with Republicans.
A similar question was posed about the GOP: "Do you think Republicans are doing too much, too little or about the right amount to compromise with Obama on important issues."
The result was a quite critical view of Republicans.
Just 8 percent said they are doing "Too Much" to cooperate with a Democratic president, with 30 percent opting for the "Right Amount" of cooperation. But 58 percent said Democrats are doing "Too Little."
With Independent voters, 56 percent felt Republicans in Congress are too unbending, while 50 percent had that opinion of Obama. A total of 28 percent felt both sides are doing too little toward seeking and finding agreement.
Hint - Vote “Yes” for Healthcare “reform” to score a coupon for a free Mochachinofrappelatte!

Yea, those most responsible for the mess in the first place. Sure, let's listen to them.....
They didn't do anything about passing measures like those listed in post #4 when they had the chance. With such a recent history, the independent voter can be forgiven for thinking that the Republicans are not really interested in this issue.
Don’t forget cap and trade, which has already passed the House. Then there is amnesty and the elimination of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” closing Gitmo, trying KSM and others in NYC, etc. Intentionally, we are always in a crisis mode.
LMAO!!!!!!
One thing these idiots are useful for is a good laugh!
Vigilanteman has it right, heck as a Canadian I’ve been saying this for years, and I’ve been trying to convince people here we need to get rid of our public health care. Lots of people think I’m crazy, they ask why would I want to lose free health care.
I explain how free it really is, and turns out it costs us more a year in taxes for this crap healthcare than a good plan would in the US.
I can’t fathom the thoughts going through a person’s head who would want socialized medicine. Education is a good start, I think these folks need a wakeup call.
oh, and as a last point, if any Canadian comes on here and talks about how great our healthcare is, they are either oblivious to reality, lying, or just plain stupid.
I can’t wait for them to push an immigartion (amnesty) bill. Record deficits and debt along with high unemployment will make that fight a real circus.
immigartion = immigration

Because you can't cover preexisting conditions (money loser) and you can't cover everyone (fascist)
An amnesty bill has already been introduced in the House and Schumer is working on one in the Senate. It is coming.
WAPO BS.
Frankly this whole discussion is based on a paper that lies, and a network that lies.
If you want to believe this poll....go right ahead.
Take Care,
Popcorn & pitchforks...here we go!
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)
New Dem mantra: Woof, woof eat dog food granny....ala let them eat cake.
