Tea party-backed candidate Debra Medina is closing on Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison in Texass Republican gubernatorial primary, increasing the odds the race led by Gov. Rick Perry will be thrown into a runoff.
According to a survey out Tuesday by Public Policy Polling, Medina, a nurse whos now a businesswoman, had the support of 24 percent of likely Republican primary voters, trailing the three-term senator by only 4 percentage points. Perry, who leads Hutchison by double-digits in several polls, got 39 percent in the latest survey.
If no candidate gets more than 50 percent of the vote in the March 2 primary, the top two finishers will compete in a runoff on April 13.

My, my, my...I would like to see Medina run against White because I think just about anybody could beat him...and then consider the fun in Austin if an outsider suddenly had the reins.
Go Debra Go
GO Medina!!!Im not from Texas but she is an improvement from open borders rick perry. He is now concerned about the borders and his constituents since he is up for re-election just shows how out of touch he is.
Was she in fourth place before? I mean how do you “surge” into third place? ( I don’t know her from Adam. I’m nitpicking the headline not the candidate.)
Perry is open border?
Go for it Debra!!!
hahaha you are right...how does one surge to third place?
Just went to her website and she says the right stuff. I am from Texas and I am watching this with interest. I think electing someone like that and throwing out “establishment” types would send a VERY FREAKIN LOUD message to all RINOS.
Go Tea Partiers!
um yeah he opposed construction of the border fence.

C’mon, Texans! Do the right thing.
Vote for Debra Medina!
sorry to hear that...did he give a reason for opposing the border fence....nevermind i imagine its for latino votes.
Yes, she SAYS many things. Mostly bunk. She's trying to get elected.
She is a no-accomplishment disciple of Ron Paul.
My biggest disappointment is that Sarah Palin came to Texas and spoke in support of Rick Perry. I think her views are much more in line with those of Debra Medina. Last week Medina’s numbers were 18% so she surged ... even if her place in the three-way race remained unchanged.
Perry is another RINO. He’s just what the wobbly-kneed conservatives long for.
If you want someone in there who will get rolled by the hard-left, vote for Perry. He’s your man.
She has my vote.!!!!!!!! If she doesn’t make it to the run off then I’ll vote Perry, otherwise I’m voting for her all the way. I will never vote for KBH.
Palin might be fit for Vice President.
I want hard-nosed, right-wingers in office.
I’m sick of RINO’s playing footsie with the hard left, and selling us out.
meant to type he also gave illegals in state tuition
