Clinton recession: You're not telling me anything I don't already know. That doesn't excuse huge budget increases during his term. And as for Dem control? Bush had in his hand a rare opportunity other Republican Presidents would cream their pants over. What do Dems do when they get these opportunities? We're seeing it now. What did Bush do? Go back and read what Thatcher said in my previous post.

I think you’re missing the part about the Dems controlling the Senate for the first two years, and GWB never having a conservative majority in the Senate, ever.

By the way, the Dems had a supermajority and couldn’t get health care through. (Miraculously!)

Here’s a breakdown of GWB’s discretionary spending 2001-2004. (It’s a lib center but their numbers are correct).

That GWB was a big spender is not correct, and repeating it just helps Obama.
