Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.
The Miss Me Yet? billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maneys t-shirts) is cute. But lets not get carried away with nostalgia.
President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. George W. Bush
No, I dont miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.
My husband and I try to donate to conservative candidates around the country (gave up on the RNC a long time ago), so we'll put him on our list of possibilities.
Thanks for the info.
I like both Blackwell and Williams.
What they have problems with is people who don't care about the truth, who mock good people, and who go on the attack willy nilly, as you (and a handful of others) do. There really aren't that many of you Bush haters and mockers on FR, but you make a lot of noise (especially when you ping others to help you in your mockery and insults).
If you look around you, you'll see good discussions among good people who disagree ALL OVER THE PLACE.
You could be part of that too, if you wanted to. I don't think you do. You love your role as trouble-maker. You've even posted that you liked being hated. It's an odd desire to be hated by good people, but you clearly have it.
But after Taft, it was just too much of an uphill battle to get him elected. What we have instead is a simpering, horrific leftist in Strickland, and Ohio is going farther down the tubes than it was under Taft.
We really, really needed Blackwell. But he's doing a lot of good now, and he's a solid Christian, so it's clearly what God wanted him to do.
Big loss for Ohio, though.....
Patches bites the dust. A pre-emptive Tea Party victory!
“Wow! Spoken like a true seething hate filled leftist. “
BushBot Canned Response #3:
“You not supporting my liberal means you must be a liberal!”
That’s actually about as logical as much of MSNBC.
The question is not whether Bush was perfect or whether I agree with everything he did. He was not and and I don't.
10) Recognized the criminal state of Kosovo
“To compare Bush and Obama and then come up with the answer “they are both the same” is incompetence of the lowest order.”
They aren’t the same (work on reading skills). That wasn’t Malkin’s point. From a conservative perspective, Bush was a terrible President. So, no, we don’t want him and his like back just like a cancer patient doesn’t long for the heart problem he had earlier. This veneration of a liberal by people who claim to be “conservatives” is disgusting.
“The question is not whether Bush was perfect or whether I agree with everything he did. He was not and and I don’t.”
The question at hand is whether or not Bush was a liberal.
He was.
Ping for later.
Love you W!
