Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.
The Miss Me Yet? billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maneys t-shirts) is cute. But lets not get carried away with nostalgia.
President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. George W. Bush
No, I dont miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.
The Repubs had the purse when Clintoon was President and they reduced/eliminated the deficit. Then Bush took office and he and they acted like kids in a candy store. My Momma would have fought the war as vigorously and cut taxes. And I would have riden her ass to shrink the federal government while she had the chance. Bush on the other hand ...
Eight Wasted Years...Margaret Thatcher used to talk about the ratchet effect. When the Left gets power, she said, they drive everything Left; when the Right gets power, they slow the Leftward drive, perhaps even halt it for a spell; but nothing ever gets moved to the Right. U.S. politics in the 21st century so far bears out this dismal analysis. What does the Right have to show for eight years of a Republican presidency? I supported George W. Bush in 2000 because I thought he had a conservative bone in his body somewhere. I supported him in 2004 because I thought him the lesser of two evils. At this point, I wouldnt let the fool park his car in my driveway. Bruce Bartlett was right, every damn word...Bill Gertz interview on Hannity and Colmes Gertz: Well he casts himself as a compassionate conservative and I argue that he's neither. That his administration is neither. He's done tremendous damage to the conservative movement... |
Thats my chart.
Bush’s budget was never passed. The Dems ignored it and got by with the omnibus spending bills until Obama was elected.
(1) NCLB
(2) Medicare Part D.
(3) “Islam is a religion of peace”.
(4) Americans are lazy. “Jobs Americans won’t do” and all.
(5) Signed McCain-Feingold while saying he KNEW it wasn’t Constitutional.
(6) Expanding the welfare state during wartime.
(7) Prosecuting Soldiers and Marines to placate the enemy.
(8) Giving scum like Teddy Kennedy awards.
(9) Cronysim.
(10) Refusing to fight the war as one, instead of some Wilsonian mission.
(11) Refusing to defend the borders of CONUS - the sole reason we even have this poor excuse for a government.
(12) Doubling the Federal debt.
(13) Ordering the Guard to WITHDRAW if the Mexican Army crosses the border.
(14) Destroying capitalism to save it.
(15) Confusing the public on what “conservatism” is.
(16) When he was wrong, attacking his supporters. When he was right, not answering his critics.
(17) Losing the veto pen for thie first 6 years.
That bill or particulars may not interest you, but it damn well interests me. NO MORE LIBERAL REPUBLICANS. A pox on the lot of you!
I love it too..I imagine Dubya has even got wind of this as it’s been all over the net and news...well Fox anyway..but hey is there any other news? HA!
I miss the town I lived in ,in Ohio, so very much. My son now also lives in Ohio up near youngstown...he loves it there. Moved here to Western Pa. 4 yrs ago and not very content here...Ohio spoiled me!
President Bush Signs American Dream Downpayment Act of 2003
This administration will constantly strive to promote an ownership society in America. We want more people owning their own home. It is in our national interest that more people own their own home. After all, if you own your own home, you have a vital stake in the future of our country. And this is a good time for the American homeowner. Today we received a report that showed that new home construction last month reached its highest level in nearly 20 years. (Applause.)
The reason that is so is because there is renewed confidence in our economy. Low interest rates help. They have made owning a home more affordable, for those who refinance and for those who buy a home for the first time. Rising home values have added more than $2.5 trillion to the assets of the American family since the start of 2001.
The rate of homeownership in America now stands a record high of 68.4 percent. Yet there is room for improvement. The rate of homeownership amongst minorities is below 50 percent. And that’s not right, and this country needs to do something about it. We need to — (applause.) We need to close the minority homeownership gap in America so more citizens have the satisfaction and mobility that comes from owning your own home, from owning a piece of the future of America.
Last year I set a goal to add 5.5 million new minority homeowners in America by the end of the decade. That is an attainable goal; that is an essential goal. And we’re making progress toward that goal. In the past 18 months, more than 1 million minority families have become homeowners. (Applause.) And there’s more that we can do to achieve the goal. The law I sign today will help us build on this progress in a very practical way.
Many people are able to afford a monthly mortgage payment, but are unable to make the down payment. So this legislation will authorize $200 million per year in down payment assistance to at least 40,000 low-income families. These funds will help American families achieve their goals, and at the same time, strengthen our communities.
And there’s more to do, as well. We’ll continue to pursue a broad agenda to help people own a home. There are three steps I want to describe to you right quickly about what we intend to do. First, those who apply for mortgages should be made aware of all the costs and warned about predatory lenders who take advantage of inexperienced buyers. So we’ve doubled the funds for housing counseling services, including those run by faith-based and community groups like ACORN.
“(thank you T.R. - ANOTHER GREAT Republican the Bushes arent fit the clean the shoes of).”
I hate to say it, as I greatly admire TR for other reasons (Navy and his advocacy of marksmanship), but he was a “progressive”, liberal, Republican. He just wasn’t a globalist. He believed in projecting power globally, not submitting to global power. So, I guess I agree with you after all... ;)
And I just respect Dubya so much for remaining quite while Bozo Obama rants and raves about the Bush years. He is speaking volumes in his silence.
I don’t understand you post....Bush came into office in a recession, with revenue declining. He was immediately hit with the Enron scandal and resulting economic headache. 2001 also had the expenses for 9/11.
War funding was off the budget, but the comparison between its cost and the budget is still relevant.
Bush did fight the war while cutting taxes. He could only do so much with the Senate in Dem hands.
As for Newt and his bunch balancing the budget, they did it by actually cutting the defense budget for two years in a row, along with Clinton’s tax increase of ‘93. Reforming welfare helped, but was not responsible for balancing the budget.
And I hope they know about the AOL poll where 66% of the thousands answering it say they MISS President Bush.
People are waking up, realizing what we had in the integrity and patriotism of George W. Bush and missing him badly.
(I grew up in the Youngstown area. Hardly ever get back there now that both my parents are gone, but it was a great place to grow up. I could ride my bike to PA. We were that close! Freepmail me where your son lives, OK?)
OK, what how did Dems raise mandatory spending by 700B? And the President has a little thing called a veto.
Now this was a sweet read in every sense...thank you for posting it.
I miss Regan as well. But his supreme court pick wasn’t very good, and he did preside over the amnesty for millions of illegals. No one is perfect. I slept a lot better with Bush in the WH that I ever will with the 0
That, I don't know. I'll see if I can answer it for you later.
And the President has a little thing called a veto.
That's why the Dems never returned the budget to him...he threatened to veto it.
Don't feed the trolls...or in this case, the idiots.
Still breathing, nominated by your friend, the President, pushed through the old boys club by bribes and cajoling. That's the minimum. Myers couldn't get number 3 because of grass root resistance.
Ok, so she was qualified.
Thanks.
I don’t ;-)
Won't you get kinda hungry rab?
Only in the eyes of a slobbering slavish Bushbot.
RE :”Don’t feed the trolls...or in this case, the idiots.”
You are right Rabs. A weak moment.
