She should have kept her kids out of it.

There is no telling what's going to happen to them as they enter their teens and who wants to have Mom on your back because she took up a cause and dragged you into it?

I think “leave the kids alone” is the right rule, and that it works both ways. I can’t remember any time Clinton or Bush put their kids out there like this.

I think children in the White House should be occasionally seen, and never spoken about, or heard from. I think both W and Clinton got this right. Neither used their kids as campaign or political props. Of course, that didn't stop the media from reporting ad nauseam about the Bush twins, but that's probably a different discussion.

“the word “chubby” to describe her daughters”

“Don’t call me Norman, call me Chubsy Ubsy!”

Childhood obesity is a major problem.

Obama’s daughters are both, from what I have seen, a perfectly acceptable weight and in NO WAY should they be told to think, AT THIS STAGE OF THEIR LIFE, about being “chubby”.

If you are worried your pre-teen girl is “chubby” when she is a perfectly acceptable weight you predispose her to eating disorders. Trying to ‘slim down’ a preteen who is a perfectly acceptable weight is a good way to stunt physical and intellectual growth.

Can’t a preteen girl just BE, and not have to worry about how she looks (with all the creepy stuff that goes with it)? We all know that it will soon enough be a lifelong obsession for most women; must it be started so soon?

What is it with these people? She, of such slender physique, reports that the pediatrician and their skin-and-bones father thought the girls were getting chubby. Dad announces the kid’s grade on a test. This from a dude who won’t even produce his own birth certificate!

“Chubby” is NOT obese. Many young girls go thru a period of chubbiness before they begin to take on the contours of a woman. I imagine it’s God’s way, and not a major cause of concern, much less federal edicts about what we can and cannot feed our children, and where.

She's a classless idiot. Much like the clown she married. But the black community has few role models so they laud her as a fashion model, etc.

The woman makes me want to vomit.

I wish the First Lady would direct more efforts at deflating the massive ego of her husband then obsessing about fat kids

I have a tall daughter (5’2” at 10 years old). Every few months she gets a little “chubby” right before she shoots up again. It’s usually a warning sign for me to get the money together for new clothes and shoes (sigh).

Typical liberal parent. It’s all about Michelle don’t you know? Michelle’s two little home decor accents, (that would be daughters to us), won’t be harmed, if it’s in Michelle’s interest to use them in this fashion, right?

Once a clerk at a store referred to me (when my sister was hunting me down and asked her) as “heavy-set,” and I’ve never, ever forgotten it, and she was no relative to me, not even someone I’ve ever met before and I *only* was about ten pounds overweight at the time. The sting of cruel words to describe your very own flesh and blood (the same flesh and blood that Michelle feels is disposable) is felt even more so, I would imagine. Shame, shame on Michelle. Do you think “her heart was in the right place”? I hope her kids become pro-life zealots. That would fix her.

Mrs. O, please don’t call your children names anymore. Don’t you know that when your young and the outside world puts you down or calls you names like “chubby”, the place you go for comfort is home.

Think Mrs. O. Where will your children go for comfort if you’ve called them names too?
