A small group of West African men who came to the Rockies in search of economic opportunity are embroiled in a dispute with Wal-Mart, accusing it of a raft of discriminatory actions. Most say they were dismissed because supervisors wanted to give their jobs to local people in need of work.

Since it’s a NYT article, I don’t have much faith in the contents. However, IF these workers were actually good, I would not agree with laying them off... even to hire locals.

Agreed. It sounds as if these people were solid employees and Wal-Mart is likely going to get sued and lose.

What I suspect is going on here is that these people do not speak and understand English well enough to function in a retail situation. Why are they in our country, and why does Wal-mart have an obligation to employ people who cannot meet its standards?

They say this as if it is a bad thing. I want to know, are these legal immigrants or illegal aliens?

Good question and the article doesn’t say but as addressed in the article I’d say they were here on work related visas, etc. They orginally were in CO and were terminated there beginning in 08-09. Apparently they moved eastward and got the axe again.

That is because for the NYT
(and all other democrats)
it is mean to inquire about
facts that are the basis
for billions of dollars
of tax spending and
a pervasive subculture of lawlessness.
