MIDDLETOWN -

The five people who died in the Kleen Energy plant explosion on Sunday included three Connecticut residents, as well as one man from Missouri and one from Canada.

Peter Chetulis of Thomaston; Chris Walters of Florissant, Missouri, and Roy Rushton of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, were killed in the blast, according to a release from the Middletown Police Department. Colchester resident Ronald Crabb, 42, and Old Saybrook resident Raymond E. Dobratz, 58, were also killed.

Crabb and Dobratz worked as pipefitters. It was unclear what jobs the other men held. The cause of death was undetermined, the release states.

A van carrying the remains those killed left the plant about 1:45 p.m. Monday, headed to the medical examiner's office in Farmington.

Authorities said that while they have accounted for everyone who was supposed to be working at the plant at the time of the explosion, they are not yet certain they have found all the dead and injured.

Courtney said, "The problem is, as Rosa knows, that OSHA, over the last eight years, has almost ceased to exist in terms of a functioning agency. It's issued almost no workplace regulations literally, in the last eight or nine years. So our committee has had to pull up some of these issues that have been stuck in the bureaucratic process and bring them out as acts of Congress."

Congress has been under democrat control for pushing on 3 1/2 years. Democrats didn't do anything and they're admitting it?

Complete BS. OSHA is the problem with its relentless bureaucracy and paperwork constantly distracting American business from its mission.

It sickened me to see Rosa DeLauro insert herself into the Middletown explosion press conference yesterday.

For her to try and score points by politicizing this disaster is obscene...

It is incredible how a "caring" Democrat will dance
on the graves of the dead for power and control.

Yes, also notice he said the last eight years one of which include Obama. But, I am sure he's so used to saying that that he can't adjust.

If Obama isn't responsible for his first year of office then is the first year of Bush's admin clinton's fault...and thus 9/11 is 100% to blame on Clinton? Liberals are so stupid...they argue like 5 yr olds.

The same thing has happened here in L.A. Feds/Forest Service are being blamed because of post-rain mudslides in an area that burned last year. Go figure. It’s disgusting.

Amen. In addition to the fatalities and injuries, this event has to be a trauma for the entire area. My heart goes out to them.

It’s hard to see this disaster as an Occupational Safety issue. That concept is based on the presumption that the owners are willing to tolerate the occasional death or maiming of a worker for the sake of lower cost of production. In this case, the owners lost their whole plant before it ever went into production.

So, why did it happen? This purging process as I’ve seen it roughly described would seem to be as obviously dangerous as it is crucially important. Just for that reason, I would think everyone at all levels would be very focused on it. Of course, by the time umpty different investigations are concluded and as many court cases fought over, it will be just a dim news memory.

Cause of the accident - Highly skilled Union Labor (who of course were on a break while unskilled apprentices were doing the wok)

She is the ugliest, scariest woman I have ever seen. I couldn’t possibly imagine waking up in the morning and seeing her in bed beside me.
