This is correct. You honor the rank, the service but not necessarily the man. Just like the President. You honor the title, the office, but not necessarily the current occupant of that office.

It’s amazing that people like Murtha don’t think about repentance as they get closer and closer to the end of their life but actually dig in even more fervently, holding on to the way that leads to death.
