Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., has passed away at the age of 77 from complications from gall bladder surgery in late January. Renowned even on Capitol Hill for his ability to bring pork back to his district, Murtha faced numerous brushes with ethical issues over the decades. * Murthas district now is a possible pickup for the House GOP. Murtha won re-election with 58% of the vote in 2008. But John McCain narrowly carried the district

Just wondering.
I don’t want to lecture posters....but I come here because of true conservative thought and behavior. To wish ill of the dead is bringing the dialogue down to the level of DU. And we know liberals are incredibly vile, disrespectful, mean, and angry. Let’s not go there.
IMHO, calling our soldiers murderers and accusing them of other heinous crimes neutralizes any honor he should now receive.
He got an Honorable discharge, the government thanked him, that is all he deserves now.
258-257...etc loong way to go to 217.
Absolutely.
LLS
Go LTC Russell!
well, since he died as a result of complications from his surgery, and under Obamacare he would still be waiting for surgery... he could have.
Maybe he can get his Code Pink commie fag friends to put on their pink uniforms for the dishonor guard.
Remember, he trashed those Marines and his claims were all lies.
I would say that those on his honor guard would honor his rank, and honor his service, but choose not to honor the man.
But, I'm not a Marine. Waiting for some FReeper Marines to join in with their $0.02.
??????????????????????????????????
If he does, they will not be volunteers.
I have to think he picks up this seat in November.
What he did to those Marines in Iraq eliminates any consideration for his previous service.
My thoughts exactly.
It’s amazing that people like Murtha don’t think about repentance as they get closer and closer to the end of their life but actually dig in even more fervently, holding on to the way that leads to death. Oh well, he’ll be forgotten by most people before you know it, as we all will, then the only thing that will matter is what God thought of us.
Did he have any political offsprings interested in running for Pops seat? If so it’s gonna be difficult defeating his heirs against the sympathy vote.
Does anyone know for sure what the process is to fill the now-vacant seat? Do they hold a special election or do they wait until the November election?
Classless. The man is dead. Even if you disagree with his politics, show some respect.
