Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., has passed away at the age of 77 from complications from gall bladder surgery in late January. Renowned even on Capitol Hill for his ability to bring pork back to his district, Murtha faced numerous brushes with ethical issues over the decades. * Murthas district now is a possible pickup for the House GOP. Murtha won re-election with 58% of the vote in 2008. But John McCain narrowly carried the district

But then, somebody like John Murtha "passes away" and it's all I can do to 'zip my lips' and not say what I want to say.
Perhaps his gall bladder could not stand so much pork.
Rest in peace, he was a veteran.
Russell will, undoubtedly, be elected as soon as the Guv allows the special to happen...assuming a D guv does allow a special to happen....
Please don’t post like one of the sold soul Dems.
Me, too.
With no disparagement of Rep. Murtha, there in a nutshell is what's wrong with government; it's devolved into a game of who can bring home the pork. Like a crazy poker game with stakes climbing into the trillions, it's going to end badly.
‘zip my lips’ and not say what I want to say.
I have been mumbling to myself for about an hour now. It’s not nice either. :)
“The House passed its health bill 220-215 in November. But Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla., resigned at the end of 2009. The lone GOP member to vote yes, Joseph Cao of Louisiana, has said he wont do so again. Now with Murthas passing, that would leave Speaker Nancy Pelosi with just 217 votes for the original bill.”
Any news that makes it harder to pass 0bamacare is GOOD news.
He was in the House, not the Senate.
While I find his politics deplorable I will honor him for his service in the U.S.M.C.
DITTO!!!
This district will most likely go GOP, I would not hesitate to mark this as a pick up.
The R running did well last time against Murtha.. Murtha kept getting elected because the district said, yea he’s a crook but he’s our crook.
Now he’s gone and has no heir apparent, the GOP would have likely gained this seat even without the anti-democrat/Reid/Pelosi/Fauxbam tidal wave that is out there right now.
Murtha could probably get re-elected, but anyone else on the ballot, would likely lose as a D.
One other thing, he was a retired Colonel, but trust me he gets no respect among Marines that I know. Not after the Haditha Marine incident. He had no honor.
Sounds like a conservative Hispanic.
GOOD.
Along with Marco Rubio, we may get more Hispanic votes!
PLEEEEZE GOD, help this man win!!!!
Murtha is like Kennedy. They voted for him because he was so entrenched that he was an institution. Any Democrat running to replace him is just a democrate. A halfway decent Republican should be able to win here.
Never fear, no one can ever look on God’s judgement and declare Him “unfair”.
