The feds may still try the 9/11 terror thugs near Ground Zero, President Obama said yesterday, shocking critics.
"I have not ruled it out, but I think it's important for us to take into account the practical, logistical issues involved," Obama told CBS News anchor Katie Couric.
"I mean, if you have a city that is saying no, and a police department that is saying no, and a mayor that is saying no, that makes it difficult," Obama acknowledged.
The White House asked Attorney General Eric Holder late last month to look for alternatives to a trial in Manhattan Federal Court.
Local opposition stiffened as it became clear the trial could be a billion-dollar nightmare - and it galvanized again in reaction to Obama's new comments.
"Based on the security, logistical and cost concerns raised by the mayor and the police commissioner, it is not feasible to have the trials in New York. The administration should realize that and move on," said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

and let that freak’n sorry @ss Soros pay for the trial. I wish that demon from hell would say out of our government!
Pleading guilty does not mean that you were tried and convicted. Just admit you made a mistatement and move on.
He was joking of course, but the point was the cost at GITMO would be minimal.
Two points, only because of bammy and his lickspittler holder are we going to give a terrorist a civilian trial. That both holder and bammy want the trial held in NYC is perfect. I fully support NYC hosting the trial. It was these NYC assholes that voted for bammy so by all means enjoy your trial. Also, enjoy your cab rides with 50% of drivers being muslim. Should be fun for all. Celebrate diversity.
"The request, which was the result of hours of private meetings among the detainees, appeared intended to undercut the governments plan for a high-profile trial while drawing international attention to what some of the five men have said was a desire for martyrdom.
"But the military judge, Col. Stephen R. Henley of the Army, said a number of legal questions about how the commissions are to deal with capital cases had to be resolved before guilty pleas could be accepted.
"The case is likely to remain in limbo for weeks or months, presenting the Obama administration with a new issue involving detainees at the naval base at Guantánamo Bay to resolve when it takes office next month."
The only thing Øbama should ask of Eric Holder is to leave the office door key on the desk as he leaves!!
In March 2007, Mohammed testified before a closed-door hearing in Guantánamo Bay. According to transcripts of the hearing released by the Pentagon, he said, “I was responsible for the 9/11 operation, from A to Z.”
His guilty plea was not accepted nor was he ever tried before a military court. That is simply a fact.
"translation: George Soros has not yet absolved me from the obligation..."
That is true. He truncated the tribunal set up to try him by pleading guilty. Did you expect them to continue to hold testimony after that?
So you are correct. He was not tried. he plead guilty to avoid the trial and get martyrdom.
Time to respect his wishes and hang the bastard.
His plea of guilty was never accepted and now he is pleading not guilty.
That’s just political claptrap. He plead guilty. Time to execute him.
Moderate Dems, who were suckered into the Obama dreadnaught, are undergoing a better education than any conservative could ever give them.
They are finding out the Democrat party is not what they thought it was. It has morphed into complete orwellian socialism.
Who could imagine we would have an Attorney General this treasonus?
I have no problem with his execution.
I just said you were correct, that the trial was truncated by his plea. Whether the plea was “accepted” or not is a politcal decision, just like Obama pushing for a trial in NY.
Bottom line. A military Tribunal had commenced. It was ended with a plea.
