If you're a follower of conservative politics and also a user of the social networking tool Twitter, you've more than likely have noticed the use of "#tcot," for "top conservatives on Twitter" associated with certain posts that pertain to that subject matter. But it all didn't happen by accident. In the early stages, it was a concerted effort.
And most of it was because of the work of Michael Patrick Leahy, the author of "Rules for Conservative Radicals," which is a takeoff on Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals." And as Leahy explained, the origins of the acronym tcot' and its use on Twitter were the creation of him, an Orange County, Calif. software engineer and a 78-year-old Texas grandmother.
And Leahy, who is the third cousin of Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., explained to a group assembled by Sandy Horwitt, author of an Alinsky biography, "Let Them Call Me Rebel: Saul Alinsky: His Life and Legacy" at a Washington, D.C. They call it “Twitter” because almost everyone misspells “IncessantPrattle.com”
I agree, most of Twitter is "twitter" the Retweets drive me nuts. But for a blogger, it is a great little site (not as good as FR ... but a nice adjunct after you've scanned FR). Folks do find interesting links to explore. I use it mostly to look for more information.
#TCOT is a good search to use once you rid it of the local Koz people ... and they are like weeds, always popping up. But you'll find a lot of like-minded folks there. If you don't like Twitter, stay on FR, it's still the best.
Very nice. I just searched on #tcot and got a lot of interesting stuff.
Also, it’s interesting that the radical leftist Patrick Leahy’s cousin appears to be a radical conservative!

Love Twitter...news texted to your cell phone well before it hits the main stream. The trick is to know who to follow—it takes a daily effort to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Facebook and Twitter are making a difference. Every day, 1100+ of my Facebook friends see the truth about Obama because of my posting efforts. I believe it has given many of them courage to speak out, knowing they are not alone, like the media wants them to believe. About 250 friends have deleted me as a FB friend, and I am perfectly ok with that too.
