The Parker Waichman Alonso law firm , of Great Neck, NY, teamed up with the Becnel Law Firm, in New Orleans, LA and put on Businesswire that they “filed suit on behalf of several consumers who purchased Toyota vehicles subject to various recalls issued in January 2010 for defects in the vehicles’ gas pedals. The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, seeks class action status.”

The lawyers ask the court to stop Toyota from fixing the recalled cars without approval from NHTSA. If the court grants this request, the cars will never get fixed.
The NHTSA never grants an approval. Toyota issued a press release that says “Regarding reports that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has “approved” a plan for our pedal recall; it is Toyota’s understanding that NHTSA does not officially approve recall remedies.”

It certainly looks that way, but it didn’t stop me from buying.
Last week I purchased a 2010 Toyota Tundra CewMax Limited. The brake issue was fixed in about 15 minutes. All it amounted to was the addition of a half inch square shim to relieve a potential friction point. My 3 year old trading-in was fixed at the same time. Within 3 days, my trade-in was sold.
Screw Obama.
I really hope that if the GOP is ever in control again it can put a leash on these useless leeches.
Hope you have better luck that we did with our Avalon van. The engine sludged up despite 3,000 mile oil changes and blew out great volumes of blue smoke every time we started it. The automatic transmission failed and had to be replaced. Good luck.
Your problems had nothing to do with the recalls and are something I have never even heard of happening much less experienced despite some 15 years experience in the business.
Your claim the engine “sludged up” despite 3000 mile oil changes defies understanding I cannot imagine what would possibly cause oil to turn to sludge under the conditions you describe.
As for the tranny, well shit happens and if it was under warranty then you got a new one and if not and you didn’t abuse it you would be one of the .0001% of people owing a Japanese car having a problem of this sort.
But not to Government Motors, and their life-long warranties!

Nothing this big would happen against Toyota unless Obama wanted it to happen to protect his union thugs at Government Motors.
Avalon is not a Toyota van model name. ..they are sedans, Sienna is the van, you sure you actually have a Toyota?
When his Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood poisons the well against Toyota by telling people who own the cars to not drive them until Toyota can get them fixed? That threw quite a bit of gasoline on the fire.
Or does the Transportation Secretary act completely independently of President Obama, these days?

Perhaps you had problems with your TOYOTA AVALON VAN because they don't exist , The Avalon is a large passenger car ,, in the US the van is called the Sienna . To be fair the Sienna van has always had a sludge problem ,, it's common to all heavy vehicles with small high output engines ,, they really beat up the oil.. The easy solution is www.auto-rx.com ,, stuff works miracles.
My Camry suggests changing oil every 5,000 miles.That is when the change oil light come on.
But how do you find and hold to their slimey neck?
Might I also suggest what I do with all my vehicles as recommended by my NASCAR racing, ASE certified, owns a repair shop business brother-in-law says to me? Half way through the change schedule, change out the filter only and top off the level. It's about super-heated water damaging the filter pleated material that ALL vehicles experience. Change the oil because of blowby fuel contamination of the oil in addition to carbonization contamination by heat upon the oil.
Last cars I changed oil on were a '74 Triumph (watch out for the O ring on the filter housing) and a '69 Torino.
I'm telling you I will never, ever buy a GM vehicle.
