Willard back at trying to buy votes and support again. /src on/ It sure worked the first time. /src off/. I do not remember Reagan running a PAC between his time as governor and running for POTUS in 1976.

Pretty interesting stuff ... Pawlenty raising a good bit of money as well...this is “stump money” that they will use to promote other Republicans, not “campaign money” directly for themselves...magritte

For weeks, FReepers have been hearing endless BS
about how Mitt Romney CREATED Sen. Brown,
who would be NOTHING without Romney, and
how Mitt Romney purported FINANCED his run.

When the truth has finally come out:
This is from the article, Team Mitt "gave" $4500
of OP$ (other peoples money). :

CHEAPSKATE MITT ROMNEY HAS BEEN CLAIMING
CREDIT FOR Sen. BROWN’s HEROIC WIN
BUT HE GAVE ONLY 0.4% of OTHER PEOPLES’ MONEY TO HELP

“Romney.. had $1.1 million left in the bank.
He contributed $4,500 to Republican Scott Brown,
who was elected US senator from Massachusetts on Jan. 19.”

From the article:

Mitt Romney is filling his political coffers faster than any other prospective GOP candidate for the Oval Office in 2012.

Certainly not true for the second half of 2009 (when Palin and Pawlenty were ramping up) and DEFINITELY not true with respect to small donors.

-- Both Palin and Pawlenty had more in individual contributions in the second half than Mittens.

-- Pawlenty beat Romney in large (> $250) donations in the second half. Looks like the GOP big money may be hedging its bet on Romney.

-- In small (< $250) donations, Palin outraised Romney, Pawlenty and Huckabee combined in 2H 2009.

-- Palin's candidate donations in 2H 2009 were TWICE the amount donated by Romney.

A cotton candy candidate. Lot’s of good looking sweet smelling fluff, but when you bite into it...no substance. What ever happened to Glenn Becks’ Refounder movement?

Scott Brown’s candidacy was largely run by Romney affiliates and in conjunction with Romney himself. It’s but one of the reasons Brown publically acknowleged him shortly after winning election.

Romney gets a bad name around here, and I guess I’m even more skeptical of him of him than I was leading up to the primaries (At the time, I didn’t think we had a good candidate, which was in part true. Fred Thompson’s campaign was run like a sinking balloon the whole way, and despite the fact that I’ve really become a big fan of Fred Thompson, he fumbled royally leading up to 2008) (and need we not forget healthcare in Mass).

Still, there’s very much a part of me that trusts him on economic matters. He was around saying he’d cut the budget by 1% back in 2007. Life would be a lot better for all of us if we had a President who did just that.

There will be those who never forgive the guy and never fully trust him. So be it. I have more of an open mind.
