Gardasil Warnings Ignored Says Researcher (NY Legislature to vote whether to mandate Gardasil)

Julie Smith, researcher and founder of a NZ website set up specifically to give information about the HPV vaccine, Gardasil, www.offtheradar.co.nz says concerned parents have been contacting her wanting to know how they can help to have the vaccine withdrawn from NZ.

After last night's Close Up on TV 1 Ms Smith says "Many more parents are making the connection to their child's sudden onset of deteriorating health since receiving the Gardasil vaccine."

"What is now happening to our girls here in New Zealand is replicating what has already happened overseas. It was only a matter of time before girls here were going to die from this vaccine," said Ms Smith.

"When Dr Diane Harper, the woman who designed and conducted the clinical trials for Gardasil, asked our government to take a wait and see approach to this vaccine, why did our MoH not heed her advice? Why, when Dr Harper asked the MoH not to promote Gardasil as a 'cervical cancer vaccine' because, in her words, this is simply not true, did the Ministry of Health ignore her request?

"These are just two of the many questions MS Smith says should be put to the Ministry of Health."

According to the research Ms Smith has discovered, ninety eight per cent of all women can rid their bodies of human papilloma viruses thanks to the action of their own immune system, and of those two per cent who can't the National Cervical Smear programme will usually detect any pre-cancerous cell changes so they can be treated before cancer develops.

Girls and young women have no real health advantage by being vaccinated with Gardasil.

However, it is apparent from the many reports here and overseas, of serious adverse reactions to the vaccine, that they do place their health at risk by having this vaccine, Smith maintains.

TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public health law, in relation to providing medical care to minors for sexually transmitted diseases without a parent’s or guardian’s consent

PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : To ensure that the immunization against HPV is administered to people at a time when it is most effective

SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section one amends the section heading of section 2305 of the public health law to provide for the care of sexually transmissible diseases and consent by minors.

Section two amends subdivision 2 of section 2305 of the public health law to provide that a health care practitioner may diagnose, treat or prescribe curative treatment for a sexually transmissible disease for
a person under age eighteen without the consent or knowledge of his or her parents or guardians where such person is infected with a sexually transmissible disease or has been exposed to infection with a sexually transmissible disease.

This section also provides that a health care practitioner may provide medical care related to the prevention of a sexually transmissible disease, including administering vaccines, to a person under age eighteen without the consent or knowledge of his or her parents or guardians, provided such person has capacity to consent to the care,
without regard to the person’s age, and the person consents. The section provides further that any release of patient information regarding vaccines provided under this section shall be consistent with sections 17 and 18 of the public health law.

In addition, this section defines “sexually transmissible disease” and “health care practitioner.”

Section three provides the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION : Approximately 99.7% of all cervical cancer cases are linked to a virus, particularly certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV). According to the American Cancer Society, there are about 3,700 deaths from cervical cancer in the United States every year. African American women and Hispanic women in the U.S. are disproportionately impacted by cervical cancer. The HPV vaccine, which has been approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration, is most effective when adminis- tered before a person becomes sexually active. Generally, this means administering the vaccine to persons under the age of eighteen.

Currently, section 2305 of the public health law allows licensed physicians or hospital staff physicians to “diagnose, treat, or prescribe for a person under the age of twenty-one years without the consent or knowledge of the parents or guardian of said person, where such person is infected with a sexually transmissible disease, or has been exposed to infection with a sexually transmissible disease.” Public policy in New York also dictates that a minor may receive family planning counseling and birth control, and terminate a pregnancy without the consent of a parent or guardian. Planned Parenthood and several community health centers testified at a Senate hearing two years ago that young women were coming into clinics and
centers to ask for the HPV vaccine. Women are aware that it is more effective to receive the vaccination before they become sexually active.

This legislation provides that health care practitioners may provide medical care related to the prevention of a sexually transmissible disease, including administer the HPV vaccine, to persons under the age of eighteen without the consent or knowledge of the parents or guardians only where those persons have the capacity to consent, without regard to the person’s age, and consent to the medical care.
Therefore, regardless of the individual’s age, a person may receive the HPV vaccination if he or she has the capacity to consent and consents.

It is imperative that we promote protection against an often fatal disease to those who will most benefit from that protection. By allowing health care professionals to administer immunization against HPV to persons under the age of eighteen without the consent or knowledge of a parent or guardian, this legislation promotes the health and well being of persons at a most critical juncture in their lives: prior to being sexually active and prior to exposure to a virus that is linked to a deadly disease.

PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY : Similar to A.9630, 2008 referred to health.

FISCAL IMPLICATION : None to the state.

EFFECTIVE DATE : Nine months after the bill shall have become law.

I’m afraid that this will be a hit and run post, however:

Gardasil is made the same way that insulin is made these days - recombinant DNA, in this case, common bakers’ yeast makes the proteins that cause the immune response.

We give tetanus (”lock jaw”) and Hepatitis B vaccinations to our kids because of the lives they can save, although these diseases are very unlikely to be contracted at school and not through casual contact.

Even the first trial involved 1200 girls between the ages of 9 and 15. It was found that the younger girls had a stronger immune response.

Association does not equal causation and the VAER reports hardly equal even association. They’re really bad examples of “reports.” The reports of deaths and injuries from Gardasil are poorly documented. The VAERS reports of deaths are especially poor evidence.

Few of the VAER reports appear at all plausible as a report that could be consistent with the vaccine actually documented and associated. Most are “a nurse heard from a nurse that . . . further information requested.” One “death report” actually says the patient “may or may not have expired.”

The great majority of the adverse effects in the reports include pain, redness, and tingling at the injection site and fainting and headaches. People often faint and complain of headaches after seeing a needle, even without being stuck. It looks awful sometimes, like a seizure. Here’s a few samples:

Another:FINAL DX: Hodgkins lymphoma, nodular sclerosing, stage IIA. Records reveal patient was pale & had firm left clavicular lymph node. Excisional biopsy done 7/23/09 revealed diagnosis. Tx w/chemotherapy & possibly radiation tx when chemo completed.

Another: Write-up: Vaccine was administered, patient became dizzy 30 seconds after shot. Patient was pale, diaphoretic & nauseous. Symptoms lasted about 45 minutes. BP dropped to 90/50 & pulse to 50/min. 8/20/09 PCP note received DOS 8/4/09. After shots pt became naseated, pale, diaphoretic, dizzy and had difficulty breathing. BP dropped to 90/50 and pulse into the 50’s. Sx lasted ~45 minutes with return to baseline. Vax record states pt “passed out”.
