Toyota president Akio Toyoda apologises for faulty cars

TOYOTA has offered a 'heartfelt apology" to customers over concerns about its accelerators and brakes and has assured the public that its cars are safe.

The company is in a "moment of crisis" over the recall of eight million cars, the president of the world's largest car maker said last night, finally addressing a widely condemned refusal to break his silence on the issue.

The company also admitted that it knew as long ago as last summer that its accelerator pedals were defective and had begun ordering their replacement five months before telling the public that the components represented a safety issue.

In the midst of a two billion dollar global recall, and after two weeks of failing to confront increasing criticism over the extent of accelerator defects in cars, Akio Toyoda, said: "I am deeply sorry for causing concern to many of our customers over recalls on multiple models in multiple regions."

Apoligizing is another way of saying that you are BETTER than your recent behavior.

You will NEVER get this from Obama, because not only is he not better than his behavior, but as we will find out more and more, he is considerably WORSE.

What I like about Japan is that people TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.

Have you heard the new Toyota slogan? It’s, “Toyota, just try and stop us.”

Of the decades of auto-related recalls, I don’t recall CEOs apologizing for the faults.

Sometimes they are often complicit and refuse to apologize for the faults, in order to extract more $$$.

All I know is that I rode in a Prius today and was mighty impressed, 45 miles a gallon, roomy and balls to the wall acceleration.

Ridiculous that American car makers are behind the curve on this.

By the way, the anti-Toyota PR is coming straight from the WH in an attempt to sabotage sales to help out their commie union friends

Not going to work.

The Toyota Prius series is electrically powered by an NiMH (nickel metal hydride) battery.

Thing is, it costs more to produce a hybrid car than a conventional one, because of the materials used.

And there is a possibility that if the NiMH battery were to be punctured in the event of a car accident, the contents of the battery would cause damage to the environment.

Toyota is an excellent company with first class customer relations. In the 1990s, I bought a Boat (yes Toyota made boats) and three YEARS after purchase it was recalled for a defect. Toyota gave me a BRAND NEW BOAT! Same thing for cars. In 2007, I bought my wife a 2007 Camry. Within the first year, it had tranny problems. Toyota gave us a BRAND NEW CAR!!! You just cant top that for integrity folks.

PS- I will NEVER buy a G0vermunt M0tors car !

According to FNC there now is a major problem with the luxurious Lexus brand. People who follow the industry realize that Toyota quality started suffering when it started ramping up production about five years ago. Toyota has serious quality problems and Honda, Hyundai and Ford are best positioned to take advantage.
