A long-simmering controversy about the private life of California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring has erupted into a divisive conflict within the party.
This week the San Diego Republican Party executive committee, led by Tony Krvaric, chair of the San Diego party, called a meeting for Feb. 8 to discuss the removal of Michael Crimmins, an ex-officio member of its central committee. The executive committee recommended Crimmins' expulsion, in part for sending an e-mail to state party leaders that raised concerns about behavior by Nehring and Krvaric.
Crimmins, a retired Marine Corps officer and congressional candidate in the 53rd District in San Diego County, referenced allegations, initiated in an anonymous e-mail broadly disseminated to the party and media last fall, that Nehring brutalized a former romantic partner.

Dems pull these long debunked charges out of the closet just as Ron is at the Tea Party Convention. More smear campaigns.
Wow, I just realized that it was Republicans pulling this crap. Ron has been courting the Tea Party crowd and befriended Palin so I’m sure the wishy washy California R’s are moving in hoping to take his seat.
If there’s one thing the GOP airheads can be counted on for, it’s to throw their own under the bus at the drop of a hat.

Didn’t Nehring hire a guy to be the CA GOP treasurer, and the two of them ran the CA GOP finances into the ground while taking trips worldwide? And the guy he hired as treasurer wasn’t even an American citizen!
Here it is: http://www.calnews.com/archives/contreras337.htm
I don’t see how the CA GOP will ever succeed with that Nehring jerk running the show. We need him like we need a dozen McCains and Abramoffs.
California has a GOP? I did not know this.
Ron Nehring is a great conservative leader in a state Republican party that contains a lot of moderate/RINO types. My bet is that there’s something more to this story, and Nehring is being smeared.
Perhaps this is why you had not heard of them. The money has been squandered for years by Nehring and his cronies instead of winning elections or the hearts and minds of the people of California. I would not give them a penny.
I never have. What I have seen that passes for Central Committee, etc. is... well... pathetic.
Sad to see the party off in the weeds when it could be out supporting solid conservative candidates and winning when the tides are up....
I knew Tony Krvaric several years ago and he seemed like a really good guy.
...referenced allegations, initiated in an anonymous e-mail broadly disseminated to the party and media last fall, that Nehring brutalized a former romantic partner.Dirty tricks? Thanks SmithL.
Wow... You will never know how happy I was to read in the last sentence that the abused was a woman. He should step aside until this plays out. I would really like to hear what Tom McClintock has to say about this...
Interesting find you got there!
I remember when they had lots of Republicans, and elected Ronald Reagan. One can always hope for a return of sanity, but do not hold your breath.
Great post...
I’m sure the press conference will be well attended.
Simply one of the most ignorant statements I've seen published on the California Topic. Do the home work before making a fool of yourself.
Nehring barely meets the definition of a Republican, let alone a conservative. Nehring is, like many in the CAGOP, first a political whore and then a partisan. Nehring has courted conservatives, for the sake of the big tent and the party coffers, but has never pretended to be a conservative.
“I knew Tony Krvaric several years ago and he seemed like a really good guy.”
Maybe reading a little more about Tony will change your mind:

Also keep an eye on the Sacramento Bee over the next few days and weeks for much, much more on Ron Nehring and Tony Krvaric...
