It’s not a hatchet and it’s not a myth. The American companies have a long history of making crappy cars and refusing to fix them. Heck GMs CEO even admitted it in their pre-bailout troubles, if you think there’s a myth there take it up with him.

The chief problem with your prejudice, aside from being wrong, is that Honda and Toyota are more American than GM or Chrysler.

Shares of Honda and Toyota are freely traded on the New York Stock Exchange. American citizens can buy and sell stock in those companies, but not Chrysler or GM.
