Charles Krauthammer: The Electorate vs. Obama's Agenda
Real Clear Politics / The Washington Post ^ | February 5, 2010 | Charles Krauthammer, M.D.

I am not an ideologue," protested President Obama at a gathering with Republican House members last week. Perhaps, but he does have a tenacious commitment to a set of political convictions.

Compare his 2010 State of the Union to his first address to Congress a year earlier. The consistency is remarkable. In 2009, after passing a $787 billion (now $862 billion) stimulus package, the largest spending bill in galactic history, he unveiled a manifesto for fundamentally restructuring the commanding heights of American society -- health care, education and energy.

A year later, after stunning Democratic setbacks in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts, Obama gave a stay-the-course State of the Union address (a) pledging not to walk away from health care reform, (b) seeking to turn college education increasingly into a federal entitlement, and (c) asking again for cap-and-trade energy legislation. Plus, of course, another stimulus package, this time renamed a "jobs bill."

This being a democracy, don't the Democrats see that clinging to this agenda will march them over a cliff? Don't they understand Massachusetts?

Well, they understand it through a prism of two cherished axioms: (1) The people are stupid and (2) Republicans are bad. Result? The dim, led by the malicious, vote incorrectly.

Liberal expressions of disdain for the intelligence and emotional maturity of the electorate have been, post-Massachusetts, remarkably unguarded. New York Times columnist Charles Blow chided Obama for not understanding the necessity of speaking "in the plain words of plain folks," because the people are "suspicious of complexity." Counseled Blow: "The next time he gives a speech, someone should tap him on the ankle and say, 'Mr. President, we're down here.'"(continued)

It’s be neat if a Freeper with the requisite skills could get a video of Nixon saying “I am not a thief” and having it morph into 0bama0 saying “I am not an ideologue.”

The dim, led by the malicious, vote incorrectly. Sounds exactly like the Democratic Party elite.

Once again they accuse others, when it is they who are dim, malicious and voting incorrectly.

Another good one from Krauthammer. His recent analysis of Massachussets, Obama, and the terrorist trials has been spot on.

Krauthammer explains, without saying so, why we will never be a united country. Liberals just think differently, and there is no changing that fact. Further, they insist, and will do so at the point of a gun, that we all think like them.

Liberals just think differently

The pampered elite, freed from the concerns of eeking out a living through drudgerous toil, are able to invest their leisure in contemplating the many roles money can play in achieving social justice and enabling the suffering masses to achieve their vision of economic stability.

Of course, they don't want it to happen with their money, when so there are so many in the masses with money that can be used just as easily.

We do not understand Obama’s genius and his use of “new math”. The worst thing that you can do to these Mother Teresa/Maoists is not to “need” them.

Dr. Krauthammer, of course, nails it. There is, I think, another subset of liberal/progressive who is disdained by the progressives that Krauthammer writes about. Those are the bottom feeders who hate anyone they perceive to have more in life than they have. Their elite fuehrers, the “Krauthammer” progressives are excused because they are perceived by that subset to hate the same people as the subset. Besides, those elite fuehrers can always be taken out in the final revolution.

It is funny you say that because unlike this article, he too is of the ruling elites class in DC. All be it he does come out and mingle with the anklebiters occasionally, he still falls on his comfort zone of the beltway intelligentia when faced with someone like Sara Palin. He is stuck to the mindset of Liberal vs. Conservative and is not in any way open to the reality of the infiltration of Progressives on both sides who are the real political enemies of the anklebiters.

Glenn Beck’s show last night was perfect. He laid out how Liberals changing names from Marxists to Progressives, to Liberals and finally back to Progressives...to fool the general dumb public. Change names and go right on with the agenda, and Obama and pals are doing it as we speak. One of them, maybe Reid, said they’d get their agenda done whether one way or another, whether we liked it or not. Oh, and Persia changed its name to Iran on orders from Hitler. Persia was, of course, an ally of Nazi Germany, and Iran means Aryan. Fascism redux.

I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you especially if the best out there agrees with the issue you stated. He is right in the same league with Newt, Noonan and the rest of the elite crowd who find homage in DC.
