It's a sheep. It's a demon. It's ... Tom Campbell?

WASHINGTON If all press is good press, Carly Fiorina's bizarre campaign video depicting her opponent as a red-eyed demon sheep is a blockbuster hit.
If widespread mockery matters, maybe not so much.
Whatever the case, the former Hewlett-Packard chief's 31/2-minute Web video attacking Tom Campbell in the Republican Senate primary has gone viral, drawing more than 119,000 views on YouTube, rising to the top of Twitter topics and spurring commentary on dozens of political news sites. (It's at www.fcino.com, which stands for "fiscal conservative in name only.")
The video attacks Campbell's fiscal cred by likening the former five-term congressman to an evil sheep deceiving the conservative masses (a herd of real sheep) about his true colors. Fiorina argues that Campbell isn't a real fiscal conservative because last year he endorsed a gas tax hike and other temporary taxes to help balance the enormous state deficit. Campbell calls the charge absurd, noting that the taxes were part of a broad package of deep spending cuts and a new rainy day fund.
But any debate about fiscal policy is bound to take a back seat when demonic sheep are involved. So it went with Fiorina's video, which lit up the blogosphere Thursday.
"I'm not entirely sure ... but I think Carly Fiorina just put out an ad in which she tells voters: 'I am the real sheep in this race,' " opined Maggie Gallagher of the conservative National Review.
Wrote Ezra Klein of The Washington Post: "It's almost impossible for me to believe that this ad comparing fiscal conservatives to sheep but in a good way! is real. But it is!"

The male voiceover has what sounds like a Brooklyn accent. Does that play in California?
The ad is so weird, if I were undecided I would not vote for her. I know Tom from years ago, and Carly's contention that he had the power to destroy California single handily is just bizarre.
At 3:30, it’s safe to say it was never intended for TV.
Frankly, a pox on both their houses.
Tom Campbell is a RINO IMHO. He may have some conservative fiscal bones in his body but that is it.
Unfortunately, I am not persuaded that either of them will be fiscally conservative. But it’s hard to see how they could be worse than Arnold and Gray, and California’s fiscal mess has reached a point where even those two stooges probably wouldn’t be able to make it worse for the simple reason that no one is going to loan more money to the State of California.
Very funny, I’m not a Carli fan but that add was good.
Good in a B-Movie kind of way.
SV Ping?
Hopefully Carly will do for Republican voters what she did for HP workers: get them to hate her unreservedly until their dying days.
Regardless of who you support in this race, this ad was really dumb. An experienced corporate CEO approved this ad? Even if Carly Fiorina wins the primary and general, it will be talked about in political circles for years to come, and not in a good way. It’s just that weird. And I support Fiornia in this race, though I’ve lost confidence in her.
Here’s the ad, words cannot do it justice:

That site may be satire, but the ad covered in this thread isn’t. The link is on Posting #15. Then try to push your eyes back into their sockets- it’s that weird.
I’m not sure we come to the same conclusion on this ad. Eccentricities aside, this was a devastating indictment of Campbell’s record. But I don’t support either Campbell or Fiorina. The candidates running in IL were bad enough, but CA is even worse.
Hitler Is Informed About The Demonsheep Campaign Ad
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find only things evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelogus
It may be dumb for a TV ad, but for a youtube piece it’s not too bad - they can be a bit amateurish I think. perhaps the Carlson guy can come up with a “and Carly wants to do to California what she did to HP” ad.
I wonder if a good ad for an “outsider”, like a third party, would be the old wolf and sheepdog cartoon. The one where they walk to work carrying their lunch pails talking nicely to each other. They punch their cards and say “Have a great day Ralph.” “You too George”. Then they fight each other until the lunch whistle blows, etc.
Then the voice over guy can say “Republicans. Democrats. It’s just a job to them. Vote XYZ for REAL change”.
