NBC -- in its News Division, at least -- has been very sensitive to racial matters since Don Imus was dismissed by MSNBC for jokingly using the phrase "nappy-headed hoes" to describe the Rutgers women's basketball team. Apparently, political sensitivity has not extended to the whole network.

Never could understand why fried chicken is considered racist. Then again, I don`t understand why pickup trucks are racist, either.

I didn't know KFC was a racist food group! Those liberals are darned sensitive, if you get my drift! ;-)

Time for some black liberal to grow up.
It’s not racist unless they serve watermelon for desert.

What makes fried chicken racist? A side of watermelon? Some people have no sense of humor!

All this hypersensitivity would stop if we'd learn to respond appropriately.
For example, the response here is 'fine, don't eat any'.

As I posted a few weeks ago in the thread about a similar dustup in Denver Public Schools, a school I worked at had a culinary arts program that did a special menu one day in February that featured “soul food”. You had to sign up early to ensure you could get the meal. It featured such things as fried chicken, greens, corn bread, sweet potato pie, etc. Even more interesting was the instructional staff and students were mostly AfAm. I seriously doubt such a complaint would be successfully lodged against this meal, given the circumstances.

To call that menu racist would be like calling a lobster festival in Maine (which we do have), or baked beans in Boston, or a chili cookoff in Texas, or a corn boil in Iowa, etc, racist.
Good grief.
As Thoreau said: “ Some would find fault with the morning red, if they got up early enough.” (Expect any day now for a new bill being introduced that outlaws fried chicken.)

A black co-worker of mine was once highly incensed when someone in the office went out and ordered buffalo wings without inquiring whether he wanted any. “What’s the big deal?” I asked. “You don’t understand,” he said. “You can’t just wave wings in front of a black man!” To which I replied, “That’s funny ... I feel the same way about white bread and mayonnaise!”
