Disappointed With Sarah, Again
Vanity | 2/4/09

Posted on 02/04/2010 9:35:43 AM PST by dangus

Sarah endorses INCREASING immigration with Glenn Beck:

PALIN: Let me address legal immigration and we need to continue to be so welcoming and inviting of those who are represented there by our Statue of Liberty. The immigrants, of course, built this country. And I think republicans, conservatives are at fault when we allow the other side to capture this immigration issue and try to turn this issue into something negative for republicans. I think we need to recognize that again, immigrants built this great country. There are rules to follow if you want to be a part of this great country. Let's make sure people are following the rules. But let's welcome this.

BECK: Do you agree with me make the door wider and make it easier to bring people in, you know, Bill Gates said, I have a hard time keeping people here because it's so complex. Make, just streamline it and make it easier for people to come in the right way.

PALIN: Every part of bureaucracy needs to be streamlined, absolutely. And people do need to come in the right way. They cannot take advantage of what this country has to offer. The opportunities, the help that is here, they need to do this legally

When Gov. Palin endorsed Sen. John McCain, I was forgiving, because they had been part of a team. But Palin has also endorsed Sen. Lindsey Graham, the man whose hatred for conservatives and grassroots is exceeded in the Republican Party only by Sen. Arlen Specter. Oh, wait...

I'm not saying Gov. Palin is evil, liberal, or statist. But I've been pleading with people to find out what she actually stands for before they stampede to someone based on their personality and/or presence. Maybe she can still be reached, but I'm developing severe concerns we may be on the threshold of lunging headlong to yet another candidate who doesn't represent the conservative viewpoint.

Again, I emphasize she's not necessarily bad, but we should find out exactly how she stands on:

For all on this thread, don’t listen to these trolls. Sarah said “What don’t you understand about ‘illegal’, They MUST leave.”

Who else is stepping up? The press threw her in the spotlight to denigrate her. She’s using it to push common sense. And she’s the one they are afraid of. Name another private citizen that the WH responds to when they make Facebook comments.

I take issue with the fact that you are taking her words totally out of context. For example:

On Beck, you highlighted "Do you agree with me make the door wider and make it easier to bring people in".

In Palin's response you highlighted the word "absolutely" which is not a response to the highlighted portion of Beck's question above. She stated "Every part of bureaucracy needs to be streamlined, absolutely." She did NOT say anything about increasing immigration in that statement, she merely said the process is inefficient.

Even in the completion of her answer which was "And people do need to come in the right way. They cannot take advantage of what this country has to offer. The opportunities, the help that is here, they need to do this legally", she did NOT say anything about increasing immigration, she merely said they should come in legally.

Without checking your posting history, I don't know if you are a serial Sarah basher, so for now I will give you the benefit of the doubt that it was a misunderstanding based on a simple reading comprehension problem.

Sight the distinction. Judging your post, Palin’s position is taken out of context in this article. Which leads me to believe you have a weak argument. Perhaps you can substantiate your position by sighting the distinctions.

Conservatives must be discerning as we determine who will be our public representatives, but to resort to vague suspensions simply because a candidate does not cut the mustard for you is disingenuous and analytically lacking. It certainly isn’t compelling.

Doesn't disappoint me in the least.

Legal immigration is what our country is all about, and each of us owes our own citizenship to it, at some point. I agree with everything she said.

Illegal aliens, on the other hand, must be STOPPED.

Hayworth is a longshot, and would be a weak freshman.

McCain, the incumbent, has real power.

SP is now in a position, and in possession of sufficient support, to bend McCain and others to her preferences...she brings large popularity. It is they who will serve her....not the other way around. She's doing things smart, IMHO

You missed nothing. Everything she has said has highlighted that illegal immigration is wrong and should not be rewarded.

The anti Sarah trolls just continue to try to snooker everyone claiming her support of McCain means she is for amnesty.

She is a complete ignoramous and a fraud. Just look at whom her PAC endorses and for whom she campaigns. Palin is not fit to lead the conservative movement. Conservatives need to wake the heck up!

Governor Sarah Palin announced the State of Alaska will join the multi-state amicus brief authored by the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment right of individual Americans to bear arms. The Texas amicus brief in the case Washington, D.C. v. Heller will be filed by February 11, 2008. Governor Palin, a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association, has long been a champion of the constitutional right to bear arms, as well as a proponent of gun safety programs for Alaska’s youth.
“I am proud to join the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment,” Governor Palin said. “We need to send a strong message that law-abiding citizens have a right to own firearms, for personal protection, for hunting and for any other lawful purpose.”

Sound like a "liberal" to you?

Also note, she was Governor of the ONLY State in the Union with REAL RKBA. Alaska Statute 11.61.220 allows anyone 21 or older, who may legally carry a firearm to also carry it concealed without having to obtain a special permit. They also have enacted a Stand-your-ground law and a Castle Doctrine law. If I have my dates correct, it would have been Gov. Palin signing off on both of 'em.

Still sound "liberal"?

“She wants amnesty”

Where is your proof to back up your statement?

There is no comparison between adoration for what Sarah Palin stands for, and worshiping a well spoken ambiguity in Obama.
Sarah actually stands for something main stream Americans have been yelling about for years. Excuse me if I believe in someone who can restore some semblance of constitutional law in America.

But I bow down to no man or woman, only my God.

Out of loyalty she is supporting someone who brought her to the dance, right or wrong.

She has very clearly discussed her positions on the issues, many of them diverge from John McCain's positions.

She endorses someone whom she disagrees with on most of the issues? How do you rationalize that concept in your head? Do you typically support candidates with whom you disagree on an overwhelming majority of the key issues?

I know she is favoring a candidate who agrees with socialists on many issues and against one who is far more Conservative.
