Disappointed With Sarah, Again
Vanity | 2/4/09

Posted on 02/04/2010 9:35:43 AM PST by dangus

Sarah endorses INCREASING immigration with Glenn Beck:

PALIN: Let me address legal immigration and we need to continue to be so welcoming and inviting of those who are represented there by our Statue of Liberty. The immigrants, of course, built this country. And I think republicans, conservatives are at fault when we allow the other side to capture this immigration issue and try to turn this issue into something negative for republicans. I think we need to recognize that again, immigrants built this great country. There are rules to follow if you want to be a part of this great country. Let's make sure people are following the rules. But let's welcome this.

BECK: Do you agree with me make the door wider and make it easier to bring people in, you know, Bill Gates said, I have a hard time keeping people here because it's so complex. Make, just streamline it and make it easier for people to come in the right way.

PALIN: Every part of bureaucracy needs to be streamlined, absolutely. And people do need to come in the right way. They cannot take advantage of what this country has to offer. The opportunities, the help that is here, they need to do this legally

When Gov. Palin endorsed Sen. John McCain, I was forgiving, because they had been part of a team. But Palin has also endorsed Sen. Lindsey Graham, the man whose hatred for conservatives and grassroots is exceeded in the Republican Party only by Sen. Arlen Specter. Oh, wait...

I'm not saying Gov. Palin is evil, liberal, or statist. But I've been pleading with people to find out what she actually stands for before they stampede to someone based on their personality and/or presence. Maybe she can still be reached, but I'm developing severe concerns we may be on the threshold of lunging headlong to yet another candidate who doesn't represent the conservative viewpoint.

Again, I emphasize she's not necessarily bad, but we should find out exactly how she stands on:

“You didn’t read her answer before that one:”

Of course I did. Haven’t you noticed.....they ALL say they oppose amnesty!! She says she opposes it and then IMMEDIATELY adds...”not TOTAL amnesty”...and in the next breath goes on to explain WHO would ‘humanely’ qualify. Just like Thompson said he didn’t favor amnesty, “well, not BLANKET amnesty”. It’s all a word game played by the politicians, the media and the bipartisan progressive, pro-amnesty/open border types. They FAVOR amnesty for those who they consider the ‘non-criminal’ illegal aliens. And that doesn’t even make sense...they’re ILLEGAL aliens...they are ALL criminals.

I have utterly no problem with legal immigration. None.

People have fallen into a trap. Illegals in the US has nothing to do with immigration. They are criminals and should not be confused with law abiding aliens.

I'm for leniency in the case of simple mistakes like accidental day or two overstays, but that is a whole different ballgame. Working while illegal is not a simple mistake and deserves no consideration.

I am part of a Slovak parish. Many of our families put out $150.00 non refundable, to file the papers to get family members here. Most times they are turned down but the families keep trying.

Why don’t you want them to come here?

The "discussion" on immigration has gotten really confused. Illegals are not immigrants, they are criminals and unfortunately, the wanna-be legal immigrants like your family, my family, etc. etc. have gotten caught in the cross-fire.

I'm now living in my 3rd country besides the US. Immigration law isn't that hard to follow. It really isn't. Send the illegals back where they came from and bring on the LEGAL immigrants who want to be part of the US and abide by the law.

Amnesty for illegals - NO. Lenience for legals - YES.

I have NO problem with LEGAL immigration....

I don't either..... EXCEPT when it means putting more of my fellow American citizens out of work. Sarah sure seems to be making it harder and harder for me to support her. One more MAJOR screwup like this one may just cause me to drop my support for her altogether and I sense that is just around the corner.

“Sun Microsystems, Google, Intel, Yahoo, Ebay and a huge array of top Silicon Valley firms employing millions in very high paying jobs, were founded by legal immigrants.”

The majority of the “founders” of those companies were not immigrants.

Legal immigrant founders of the companies I listed:

Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Mcrosystems, born in India

Andy Grove Intel, Co-Founder born in Hungary

Jerry Yang co-founder and former CEO of Yahoo, born in Taipei, Taiwan

Pierre M. Omidyar founder of Ebay, born in France

Sergey Brin co-founder of Google, born in Russia

“Vinod Khosla, co-founder of Sun Mcrosystems, born in India”

The other three were not immigrants.

“Andy Grove Intel, Co-Founder born in Hungary”

Intel was founded by Gordon Moore and Bob Noyce. Grove was their third employee.

“Jerry Yang co-founder and former CEO of Yahoo, born in Taipei, Taiwan”

The other founder wasn’t an immigrant.

“Pierre M. Omidyar founder of Ebay, born in France”

That’s nice. We could live without Ebay.

“Sergey Brin co-founder of Google, born in Russia”

Might explain why they sucked up to China for so long.

In short, your nonsense about millions of American jobs due to immigrants is just that and is most cases with this list, the company would’ve started without them. Yes, immigrants contribute, but we do not owe them this wide open immigration policy for it. Especially since LEGAL immigration now is skewed towards people like Somalis who will contribute little or nothing.

The other three were not immigrants.”

Vinod Khosla was STILL a co-founder of Sun Mcrosystems.
It's irrelevant if he founded the company together with a million others. He STILL founded Sun Microssystems.
If anything, it was Kohsla, who first approached Scott McNealy to get him to join him to create the company.
Wiki:
" In 1982, McNealy was approached by fellow Stanford alumnus Khosla to help provide the necessary organizational and business leadership for the fledgling company

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_McNealy

The other founder wasn’t an immigrant”

Jerry Yang was STILL the co-founder and former CEO of Yahoo, and he was still born in Taipei, Taiwan.
If anything, given that he became CEO of Yahoo, he was the stronger one of the 2 founders.

Might explain why they sucked up to China for so long”

Nice try at changing the subject.
Sergey Brin was STILL the co-founder of Google, and he was still born in Russia. Without him, there is no Google.

In short, your nonsense about millions of American jobs due to immigrants is just that and is most cases with this list”

In short, you are talking utter garbage.
Google alone, had revenues of $6.67 billion in the December quarter, and made operating income in the fourth quarter of 2009 was $2.48 billion, or 37% of revenues, and net income of 1.86 billion, and has total employees of 19,835 as at December 31, 2009.
And that is just one company out of hundreds of thousands in this country that have been founded by legal immigrants going back a very long time.
What more nonsense you got to spew out?

How many Somali legal immigrants are there in this country?
The population of the whole of Somalia is just 10 million.
How many of them are here, let alone legally here?

“In short, you are talking utter garbage.”

BS. Those companies or companies like them would still have existed. In fact, did so. This is your defense for continuing to allow in a million largely unskilled people into the country?

“And that is just one company out of hundreds of thousands in this country that have been founded by legal immigrants going back a very long time. What more nonsense you got to spew out?”

Actually most of them that are here are here “legally”. Reference State Department and church group resettlement programs.

Since Kennedy’s immigration reform, legal immigration has been targeted at cultural aliens.

Face it: you like seeing Americans unemployed. Apparently, we’re a jobs program for the entire world. For every Andy Grove (who was NOT actually the founder of Intel), there are thousands of people on welfare bringing over families to be on welfare. Anecdotes are only data to people with political axes to grind.

Legal immigration is too high to be sustainable. There is no breathing period, as in the past, to assimilate people and there are far too many freebies given them. So, to satisfy people like you, we must suffer increasing deficits, increasing crime rates, increasing loss of our very culture because you seem to think every immigrant to the United States is the next CEO of Intel.

Total unadulterated crap.
Without Vinod Khosla there is no Sun Microsystems.
Without Sergey Brin there is no Google.
Without Pierre M. Omidyar there is no Ebay (16,000 employees, plus tens of thousands of businesses that are based on Ebay).

You really like these McCainiac talking points, don’t you?”

A few hundred thousand with more coming each year since 2001. Certainly enough to produce a number of Muslim terrorists already.
