Obama Backs Down After Anti-Vegas Remarks
FOX news ^

Posted on 02/04/2010 8:32:22 AM PST by boughtwithaprice

I know a similar article has already been posted, but I wanted to excerpt a specific quote. Just too good. Excerpt as follows:

Goodman said he thought Obama had a "psychological hang-up" of using Las Vegas as an example of excessive spending, and that this time, an apology wouldn't be enough.

"He has to step up right away and say, you know, he wasn't thinking," Goodman said. "Sometimes when he's not using his monitors and reading what he says, he doesn't think. And this is one of those times he didn't think, and he should straighten out the record because he's been here, he knows Las Vegas is a great place."

The reason Obama has so much disdain for the ills of Las Vegas and its implications of equal opportunity odds at gambling is that he is the very product of the antithesis of real 'fair odds'. He is the epitome of rebalancing of those odds; inclusion and advancement because of race; acceptance and promotion because of race; disregard, excuse and coverup of poor performance because of race, and so on.

So, in the end, how could someone so used to preferential benefit be amenable to 'fair play' (even if the fair play is in favor, odds-wise to the 'house').....

I liked the Godfather part where he accused the President of trying to "make his bones" at the expense of Las Vegas.

Sounds like Obie is trying to settle some "family business" between Chicago and Vegas.

BTW, that old accusation that Obama would have to undergo “on-the-job training” was inaccurate...cause he just doesn’t seem capable of learning the job.;-)

The GOP should hold their convention here, it would be a win win any way you look at it.

Barry hates Vegas for three reasons
  1. There's no Affirmative Action at the Black-Jack table.
  2. Gambling is contrary to the tenants of Marxism as only the Bourgeoisie can afford to do it.
  3. Vegas, just by being, ensures that the shackles of Capitalism will keep the proletariat down.

Plus, *rumor has it* that Barry's a degenerate gambler and is afraid to go there as he might use the Deed to the WH as collateral on making 'Eight The Hard Way'.

You make a good point - I don’t recall seeing any affirmative action craps tables or poker rooms. Gee, I wonder why?
BECAUSE CASINOS ARE RUN BY EVIL RACIST WHITE MEN!!

That seems to be Bambi’s world view. Every casino should donate their penthouse floor and 5% of its profits for the sake of redistributive change.

.....redistributive change....

I heard an excerpt of one of his interviews once where he uttered these words in connection with what he thinked the US Constitution lacked in terms of being 'fair'...

This man is an abject socialist whose Islamic Faith is working feverishly to destroy a country the likes of which this world has never seen, nor will EVER see, again.

The reason Barry screws up is if he is not reading the teleprompter, he speaks uncontrolled and what I mean is that he has no Executive experience thus him reverting back to thug tactics.

Maybe I misread his original quote but I really didn't think his comment was off base. It is probably wise not to blow money in Vegas if you are trying to save for something that is more important (i.e. college).

I don't think it was a smart comment for a politician, but it is not an untrue comment. Hell, you could apply the principles of his comment (don't piss away money when you don't have it) to a lot of things and normally Freepers would praise a person for this. I take the statement as a person/family needs to live within their means, I just wish the government would follow their own advice. If people had done this the we could have avoided the foreclosure issue.

Spread the wealth, baby!
I only wish more Americans would have taken pause to really examine that revealing comment during the campaign and reflect that he REALLY meant what he said to Joe the Plumber. But maybe American Idol was peaking at the time...
