The victim, a 20-year city employee, was transported to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center Vallejo where he is being treated for his injuries. Police say the mob fractured his skull, broke his jaw and collarbone, and knocked several teeth out of his mouth. On top of it all, they went through his pockets and stole his wallet, all while people cheered in front of another camera from a bystander who shot video.

Well, they blame the schools, of course. Check out the student comments at this "local school directory" ( stimulus money ??) for Vallejo High School. These are pre "incident" but the blame game is already well in place. One self-identified sophomore complains that the school is underfunded and "Most of the teachers dont even teach what they are suppose to they talk about anything an give you what ever grade they what to." So you can see how this is bound to lead to a little desultory mob mayhem.

Taken together, these comments give a strange looming impression, knowing what we do now.
