While an ambulance is on the scene, no injuries are reported. One person is being evaluated.

Do they charge extra for multi-axle vehicles?
I hope the plane had the Toll Tag in the window.
More from KEYE:
“A single-engine plane has made an emergency landing just south of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
The plane, identified as a four-seater Piper PA 28, was on final approach to the airport when it had to make an emergency landing around 1 p.m. Wednesday. The plane landed 100 yards away from State Highway 130 near FM 812, according to FAA spokesperson Lynn Lynsford.
The pilot was able to communicate to ABIA’s air traffic control from the ground, Lynford said.”

That toll road is less crowded than Bergstrom, so it was a good idea. Also, the toll is less than the landing fee.
I had a PA28 D model, sweet aircraft and very easy (forgiving) to fly.
Wonder if he got cited for Improper Parking?
"Away from" does not "On" make.
Regardless, the weather sucks here today.
Austin ceiling is 300 feet with 4 miles vis in rain.
I'd hate to be the one shooting an approach in this...
Ceiling 300’???
I wonder what kind of minumums this guy had.
Were you bored today?
Running out of fuel. How about a few arrests of the incompetent hobby pilot for reckless endangerment? Sheesh.
Well, the pilot could not drive his Toyota so he thought this would be a better alternative.
There is one screw up that no aircraft will forgive. :)
I don’t have the approach plate in front of me, but an ILS approach is typically 200 feet DH in the absence of limiting factors. Of course, I wouldn’t go that low without lots of recent practice.
Yes but read gobdrivers’ note where he said (tongue-in-cheek} that the Cherokee was CAT111c equipped.
That should have put him on the centerline, poured him a martini, and taxied him to the VIP lounge for BBQ.
That’s going to be a long taxi to the gate.
I never land on toll roads.
If you have to tow the plane afterwards, the toll booths shear the wings off.
Two Qs: Are you going to the Palin event this Sunday and could you recommend a book on the San Jacinto battle? I'm stopping in B&N tomorrow for the other (Alamo) book.
