So... are illegals equivalent to Indians not taxed?

Amendment XIV (1868)

Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of Persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of Electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the executive and judicial officers of a State, or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty one years of age, and Citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male Citizens shall bear to the whole number of male Citizens twenty one years of age in such State.

I support counting illegal immigrants... As we fingerprint them and prepare them for deportation.

In other words, anyone who does not pay taxes should not be counted.

Or maybe count only those who are validly qualified to vote.

And, IMO, voters should be restricted to those who have served at least two years active duty in the US military as in the original book version of Starship Troopers. And they could do that service by age 18.

You would have to amend the Constitution and that will not happen.

The Mexican government does NOT consider its nationals illegally in the United States as subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Just ask them at the nearest consulate.

Sorry, but there is no Constitutional justification for counting illegal aliens. Yes, they are subject to American laws, but so are waived diplomats, foreign military within the terms of their status of forcesagreement, and temporary workers, like actors and atheletes.

In Plyler, it is defined as all human beings in the US.

I do not believe that Mexican laws have any relevance on the US Constitution or American laws.

And if the framers of the Constitution had only wanted us to count citizens, they would have specified that only citizens be counted.

Thanks.

Of course, that covers unborn humans too.

Maybe Crist should move to a more leftist State, such as Hawaii or Illinois or Maryland, and become a US Senator like Hillary did.

Then Florida can elect more conservative Governors and Congress critters.
