WASHINGTON Americas top intelligence official told lawmakers on Tuesday that he was highly certain that Al Qaeda or one of its affiliates would attempt a large-scale attack on American soil within the next six months. The assessment by Dennis C. Blair, the director of national intelligence, was much starker than his view last year, when he emphasized the considerable progress in the campaign to debilitate Al Qaeda and said that the global economic meltdown, rather than the prospect of a major terrorist attack, was the primary near-term security concern of the United States.
Citing a recent wave of terrorist plots, including the failed Dec. 25 attempt to blow up an airliner as it approached Detroit, Mr. Blair and other intelligence officials told a Senate panel that Al Qaeda had adjusted its tactics to more effectively strike American targets domestically and abroad.
The biggest threat is not so much that we face an attack like 9/11, said Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director. It is that Al Qaeda is adapting its methods in ways that oftentimes make it difficult to detect.

JPMorganChase needs another bailout?
This is tricky. We know from the Christmas Day Underwear Dude that Blair is incompetent. Could this be his blind squirrel nut, or just more incompetent blather?
The terrorists only have to get lucky once. National security (be it NSA, FBI, CIA, etc) has to get it right every time.
We did stop a number of planned big attacks thanks to waterboarding. Now, we are seeing the results of taking our eye off the ball to sing John Lennon’s Imagine.
Shhh. The meme has already gone out. Barry’s keeping us safe.

It has a plethora of good advice.
I can't really blame the intel agencies however, as the socialist demoRATS & socialist-commie pig usurper 0bozo, put up barriers & walls of separation to keep intel agencies from effectively sharing terrorist information. And then of course the rabid politically correct pro-islamic dimWits do everything in their power to prevent our intel agencies from targeting the islamic terrorist groups because of racial profiling.
I conceal & carry as much as I can....if I have the misfortune to ever be in the middle of any islamic terrorist attack, maybe I would at least be able to mount some type of armed response to it and see what happens from there.
A major terror attack is being planned against us, and Obama hurries up and mirandizes Abdulmutallab, who may have vital or at least helpful information that could have helped us prevent the attack. Makes one wonder why Obama doesn’t want to find out any info that may help protect the American people and innocent American lives.
Then Obama is offended, when people call him weak on national security.

I live in the country..southern west virginia. When it happens, everyone who can will bug out of the big cities..wouldnt you if you could?
Our comfortable little hamlet will soon be overrun with good people and sad to say a lot of terrorists mixed in.
The terrorist attack occurred yesterday: The Obama Budget.
they could drive us nationally crazy by just bombing the power grid.
Desperate people do desperate things when you have kids to feed.

CIA CYA...?
My concern is that if the gubment does not do something about this situation, then the people will. And THAT will get damn ugly!
If we profiled, there wouldn't be a Kenyan-born socialist Muslim with Indonesian citizenship usurping the Oval Office.
