WASHINGTON — America’s top intelligence official told lawmakers on Tuesday that he was “highly certain” that Al Qaeda or one of its affiliates would attempt a large-scale attack on American soil within the next six months. The assessment by Dennis C. Blair, the director of national intelligence, was much starker than his view last year, when he emphasized the considerable progress in the campaign to debilitate Al Qaeda and said that the global economic meltdown, rather than the prospect of a major terrorist attack, was the “primary near-term security concern of the United States.”
Citing a recent wave of terrorist plots, including the failed Dec. 25 attempt to blow up an airliner as it approached Detroit, Mr. Blair and other intelligence officials told a Senate panel that Al Qaeda had adjusted its tactics to more effectively strike American targets domestically and abroad.
“The biggest threat is not so much that we face an attack like 9/11,” said Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director. “It is that Al Qaeda is adapting its methods in ways that oftentimes make it difficult to detect.”

Health Care Reform, as they have it planned, will cover currently undocumented people as well. Anyone that goes to the doctor or a hospital would have to be recorded in the database. It will also allow the Federal Government direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts. Very few folks could hide under the radar with that scenario.
Wow! Isn’t that just peachy! When the Bush administration came out with warnings like this he and his administration were raked over the coals and accused of trying to panic the public to further their militaristic agenda. Hmmmm...why has there been no outcry over this warning?
We better hope and pray to the Lord God this doesn’t happen under his watch.
The guy doesn’t know what to do or how to react and neither do the peons who are in his cabinet.
I don’t see the government initiating an attack until after April 15th, cuz the people who OWE money aren’t going to pay until that day. If the government initiates an attack before then, the PAYERS are going to say, “Screw it, I’m not filing”. And you know how much the government wants their hands on the money. On second thought, they’ll just grab everyone’s accounts, so I guess it won’t matter.
Al Qaeda is not interested in being used to “deflect attention from the donestic mess...”
The global jihad has ramped up it’s propaganda and its terrorist actions.
If you really are a “watchman” as your moniker states; then you already know this.
The question on the table is not what Al Qaeda wants, it is the speculation that the administration may have settled on them as a convenient foil.; i.e., an external “bogey man”. The idea that they, unlike Amadinijab[sp], are very unlikely to waffle and “make nice” makes them a good candidate for the job. The belief that they are likely to follow through on their threats within the next year make them an even better candidate!
