Looking at the governor’s race totals, I would say you’re right. But not sure why Hughes didn’t do better. If the two races (governor and senate)showed a conservative majority over the winners, I would say a Tea Party candidate might be good.

Hughes problem is not being able to go head to head with Kirk. Also he had all these also rans splitting the conservative vote. If he’d have had polls showing more respectable polling of 30-40% he’d have did much better. The short primary sucked. I do think he should consider getting himself on the ballot as a third party tea party candidate. 250,000 sigs aren’t too much to get before June and he could use that time to rally Tea Party conservatives to his side. I’d personally love the battle. I wish I’d ran onto him earlier. I have no doubt that had he had a couple more months he’d have did much better. This stupid feb primary is what hurt him and other less well known candidates.
