I know the current medical-insurance payment system is totally against the individual and it HAS to change!
CIP: Had a kidney stone...worst pain I’ve ever even imagined. Went to the ER. Got out in 24hrs. got a bill from my insurance for $12,500 as all my responsibility. Was between jobs and it turned out that I WAS covered by insurance by a day! Now the insurance “re-figures” the bill and only asks for $1500!
Complete crap! Change it, change it, change it! God bless Barak Obama!!
Surely you jest. You want to give up our system, with its deficiencies, for a government-run operation in which bureaucrats dictate the terms. You must be extremely naive, sir. Either that, or exceptionally ignorant of how things are and could be.
Where's the problem?
When you were thought to be uninsured, the entire bill was your responsibility.
When it was determined you actually were insured, you owed the $1500 deductible.
How much did the insurance pay the hospital on your behalf?
I don't see how this is "complete crap".
What’s the problem? When you’re not insured, you get hit with the full bill (and yes, it’s high - an ER visit for a kidney stone isn’t like buying an iPod). When you’re insured, you ended up paying just 12% of the full bill - exactly what you agreed on.
What, you expect your home insurance company to pay for replacing your house when it burns down the day _after_ you cancelled coverage? WTH?
