Romney Takes Ownership of Brown Victory
ABC The Note ^ | February 2, 2010 | Rick Klien

Posted on 02/02/2010 11:40:49 AM PST by yongin

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: For those reading 2012 implications out of Sen.-elect Scott Brown’s victory in Massachusetts, Mitt Romney’s monthly PAC newsletter provides some insights.

Brown, R-Mass., is featured in two pictures in the newsletter, and Romney takes full ownership of his victory:

“As supporters of the PAC, you deserve a thank you,” the newsletter from Romney’s Free Strong America PAC reads. “Your support made it possible for Governor Romney to get behind Senator Brown from the very beginning, when polls showed him a 30-point underdog and everyone assumed the outcome was pre-ordained in favor of the Democrats.”

“Governor Romney asked his entire political team to help the then-unknown Brown, and he raised early money for him at a time when very few people would give him a second look.”

Indeed, several key figures in Brown’s victory -- notably Eric Fehrnstrom, Beth Myers, and Peter Flaherty -- were and continue to be Romney people.

Brown’s campaign manager, Beth Lindstrom, was a member of Romney’s Cabinet; his press secretary, Felix Browne, was a deputy press secretary under Gov. Romney; Brown finance director Priscilla Ruzzo held that same post in Romney’s 1994 Senate race; and Will Ritter was a key advance staffer for Romney before he worked for Brown’s campaign.

Why do you file so many abuse reports?

That seems oddly self absorbed.

Only if it's self abuse.

Charles, you are never at a loss for words.

Romney bears some responsibility for Scott Brown’s win than that Romney bears ... Speaking of Romney bears ....

When Brown first started, Romney cmapaigned with him, and held multiple public fundraising events.

However, after that, Brown worked at separating himself from conservatives

Are you implying that MR is a conservative? That is just to rich (and oh so very wrong).

Most of them are for bloggers posting blogs in news/activism, or for posts that use language or make statements that I think might reflect badly on FR if they were widely circulated, or where the post is nothing but a short personal attack on another freeper, which technically violates the “NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts”.

The Mods have a lot of ground to cover, and I think it is helpful to them to point out possible areas of concern so they can take action if necessary.

On the other hand, I don’t know if I report “so many”. I do enough that I would expect the mods know me, but not like multiple ones a day. They haven’t asked me to stop yet, if they do I’ll certainly stop, I don’t want to generate additional work for them.

I don’t do abuse for posts to me, except last week in that relgion forum dust-up because the rules are different there (which is why I don’t generally play in the religion forums).

I figure the abuse button is there for us to help the mods keep the site clean, orderly, and following the rules. And it’s not like I am making decisions — the response is up to the mods, I’m just pointing out things they might be concerned about.

Last year I was told that women only voted for Romney because he looked so good. Not that I agree with that assessment.

Well, that makes sense after all abortion and smoking are so similar.

In the IL primary, all Republicans running are claiming to be the next Scott Brown.

And the ultra liberal Kirk had the balls to ask for Sarah Palin's endorsement.

I’m not using abuse for offending posts. It’s there to alert Mods to possible issues for the site. The mods can then take whatever action they deem appropriate.

I take a personal interest in keeping FR a place for focused discussion on conservative issues. The abuse button is a way for all of us to help the mods police the forums. They can’t read every post.

But I am getting worse at expressing myself succinctly — not that I was ever all that good at it.

Oh Chris, everything has to be simplified for you doesn't it.

Yes a Romneybot could fake finally admitting that Romney is a socialist hack but as long as they worked for conservatism and demonstrated disdain for their once prince here on these pages in the end the only one they would be lying to is themselves.

Effectively for FR purposes they would be born again conservative and more importantly they would not be a visible support point for Romney to the less than knowledgeable lurkers.

Oh and you don't have to join those of us who are best serving the conservative cause by exposing the fraud Romney, but ceasing your attempts at defying us, trying (and failing) to contradict the facts and such as well as cheer leading other Romneybots would be a good start.

Anyways I gave you the main hallmarks of a Romneybot, so while you practice that other Romneybot trait, the one that acts like there was no answer where one is clearly given (yes you can add that), I will now leave that alone, knowing you will come back with the same blather about "it's arbitrary you can't answer yada yada yada..." that you guys love so.

Hope I made that simple enough for you otherwise, for I don't know how to resort to crayons on FR.

The perception among independents in Mass. would be that Romney is more conservative than they would like. It’s not a matter of what you believe, it’s how Brown would have seen it playing out.

But it wasn’t just Romney. There were many conservatives who expressed support for Brown, but he wasn’t getting endorsements from them, or having them campaign or speak publicly with him. And it wasn’t just conservatives, Brown didn’t want the RNC or other outside groups in general showing up for him.

So my point really is that Brown kept a lot of people at arm’s length during the general election, not that he kept Romney out because Romney was conservative.

Even Bill Clinton started looking pretty good when he got a tailor and started concealing his body (and skin).

Romney has never played in sports or been an athlete, ever.

But here at FR, it is somebody’s business, which is why we have the “abuse” button and moderators.

Hate doesn’t change the facts.

How disappointing to see you use the liberal system of accusing those whose views don't agree with yours of HATE!

That is the main tune in the liberal songbook and it is disgusting to see it here on this forum.
