COLONIE, NY - GOP gubernatorial wannabe Rick Lazio ripped into Attorney General Andrew Cuomo Monday, saying "you can't lead from a foxhole."
Addressing a state Conservative party conference, Lazio attacked Cuomo, who is expected to announce a run for governor in late March, for remaining behind the scenes and staying silent as New York grapples with one crisis after another.
"A year ago Andrew Cuomo left this conference and rather than provide the kind of leadership the state is hungry for, he locked himself in his office and watched as Albany burned," Lazio said.
He never mentioned Gov. Paterson's name during his remarks. Instead, he accused Cuomo of staying silent on issues like the state's budget woes, the location of 9/11 terror trials and Albany corruption.

I hope Rick has a chance. Cuomo would be a disaster like NY doesn’t need if he’s anything like his father.
Afraid probably not. He is not a heavyweight candidate. Doesn’t have the money that Cuomo has. You are right Cuomo is a disaster, but NY has had one after another. People actually seem to like the new Andy Cuomo. He has or had very positive poll ratings. See if he can distance himself from the other dims.
Lazio should start tying Cuomo to Fannie and Freddie. Cuomo was, after all, head of HUD from 97-2001. How much did Cuomo expand Fannie and Freddie’s buying of cr@p mortgages?
I know. He is not. I followed him around when he had to jump in for Rudy. I think he would be a good Gov, good person and a conservative, so he would make the tough choices given the chance. But Cumo is a heavy weight and heavy favorite in this democrat haven, so we’re still screwed.
Unfortunately the only thing that is going to get this state sane again is a complete collapse, so in so far as I’d like to see the state go back to sanity, I’m rooting for the collapse.

We’re in an unsustainable governmental model. NY and CA are just more warped than most. If you look at Nebraska, it should set the standard. No debt is allowed under their state constitution. No retiree health benefits. We need to clear the decks of these vampire government employees. They and their unions are destroying the country.

The only one who could beat Cuomo is Giuliani so I’m afraid it’s going to be déjà vu all over again with another tax and spend liberal just like daddy.
