It's characteristic of groupthink to lump people together without specific evidence indicating such.
I'm opposed to McCain. I have investigated independently the charges Maelstorm leveled against Hayworth and found them wanting. He has been spamming them all over the forum even after being confronted with evidence to the contrary. Hence, my opinion is that he's trolling for those who have not and will not investigate the charges to predispose them against a viable alternative to McCain. I don't care how long he's been here; that is what the behavior resembles. The charge had NOTHING to do with what I think of Hayworth and only with this series of posts on Maelstorm's part. So, I did have specific evidence and multiple personal observations in support of the epithet.

What is more disturbing is that you, also a long term FReeper, needed to construct a subjective definition of "groupthink" to reinforce the accusation. Brainwashed leftists behave that way; conservatives usually do not (unless the issue is abortion, where we too often allow ourselves to be herded into unproductive positions like stupid sheep). So instead of pissing on something that isn't what you think it was, why don't you tell us what your problem with Hayworth really is?
Personally, I think Hayworth is a professional demagogue with little real world background. He got used and did his best to fix it and it cost him a cool half million bucks to do so. So IMO, he does have his heart in as right a place as he can figure. He has name recognition and established communications skills. However, he could be just as bad as that intemperate backstabbing thug McCain and I would STILL support him, just to teach creeps in the Senate (like Lindsay Graham) a lesson. Our situation is so precarious. I have seen nothing to indicate that Hayworth would be anything but an improvement over that creep, especially as regards border enforcement which I see as one of many life and death issues for this nation. We have limited choices of viable alternatives among Senate candidates in Arizona. Re-electing McCain is not an option.
So, how is that "groupthink"? It certainly isn't thinking of him as some sort of savior (and the simile on your part is offensive).
If Maelstorm keeps relentlessly spamming the same flimsy stuff all over the forum to the benefit of McCain, I'll call that behavior what it appears to be to me. Deal with it.

Now, I’ll make this short. Last night I got an email from Maelstrom. I will answer here, since there is NO need to email me to my personal email address, this is forum discussion. He had much to say, but this was the bottom line:
“Either way I hope you will put in a good word for me with Jim. I promise I won’t post negative stuff about JD anymore to stir the pot. I hope that is enough.”
Maelstrom, I don’t want you or anyone else ‘banned’. I just want the repeated false accusations stopped. In 12 years on this forum, I’ve never tried to get anyone banned. It’s Jim’s house, his business who he bans. I’ve often wondered why he hasn’t banned me!
If you have relevant “negative stuff about JD”, it should be posted. As with McCain, or ANY candidate, we need to know the facts. But what you were continually posting was was proven wrong, was neither relevant or truthful except for your statement that you were ‘stirring the pot’. That is the problem. I’m sorry you don’t seem to understand that. Hopefully we can get on with it, because this old country is running out of time!

And you’re right it isn’t about ‘stirring the pot’, it’s about posting TRUTHFUL and ACCURATE information. The garbage ‘Strom or ‘Storm (whatever) was posting was nothing but lies and he was called on it *multiple* times and yet persisted in posting the lies in true DU-like fashion.

Free Republic is a pro-God, pro-Life, pro-family, pro-Liberty, pro-America, pro-constitution, pro-limited government, pro-defense, pro-borders conservative site. I’ve posted it a thousand times.
We are not a free speech chatroom and definitely not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists with certain pro-Liberty conservative goals in mind. Liberals, RINOS or people who are actively working against our stated conservative goals are unwelcome trolls.
Those working against our conservative candidates or causes and or FOR the domestic enemy are unwelcome trolls. You’re either with us or against us.
In this case, McCain IS the domestic enemy. I want him out of there and I take it seriously enough to ban serial trolls even if they’ve been here for ten years or more!!
By the time these next two election cycles are over, we will either be successful or FR will be a ghost town. I’m going for broke. Our Liberty and our right to exist as a free nation is at stake.

I did, with FairOpinion, 68grunt, et al. THOSE bans were richly deserved. Fools I can handle; serial propaganda artists who repeatedly fill the sidebar with BS posts, and then clog the forum, cheer-leading a 24-7 Tar Baby claque of spammers and disinformation artists, and then run when confronted later in the thread, are too destructive to tolerate in a place dedicated specifically to developing, exchanging, refining, and promulgating conservative ideas. Those people were wantonly destructive to the purpose of this forum. There are so many other places they can sell their bilge, that it is not a free speech issue.
As long as there are two FReepers left standing it won't be a ghost town. Dam the torpedoes... FR will never die.
